Hello, all!

I was er... wondering if anyone had any ideas for simple meals. Very simple meals. Meals that even a child could make and don't require anything strange. I did have a hot box but... [he gestures to where there is a very exploded microwave] It blew up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Oh no... no that blew up quite a while ago. I mean I have nicked myself a few times with kitchen knives before I finally binned them. [he shows fingers covered in bandaids] But I found these neat little sticky bandages in the bathroom. Have you seen these before?

You just aren't using knives anymore? Then how are you doing any cooking--[OKAY NO THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE.] Yes, we use them all the time at the clinic. Did you use iodine as well? You need to make sure to disinfect any cuts, especially if you've been handling meat.

Well...I have found some scissors, but they're not great at cutting anymore.

Iodine... is that... a sauce? [it doesn't sound appetizing]

Scissors are useful but they aren't meant for food. Besides, they could get germs trapped in them and make you sick. [She's just recently learned about germ theory and it explains SO MUCH.] I think it's better in the long run to learn how to use a knife safely.

Iodine is a chemical that's used to disinfect injuries. If you don't want your cuts to sicken, you need to get a little cloth and rub them down with iodine.

Oh... well I'm not sure about that. I tend to leave that sort of thing to the professionals. Though between you and me, not all that fond of leeches. [but they're part of the miracle of silence]

It's too bad cutting food isn't like sword play, which I'm becoming fairly good at by the way.

I'd like that. I'd kill for a good omelet. Even a passible one. I suppose it's too much to ask for to learn how to make a raspberry pain au chocolat.

Sort of! It's a sort of bread with raspberries and slabs of chocolate rolled in the middle. Absolutely delish. You should try it some time.

Oh! Well! Fois Gras is a good one. Duck seared in plum wine, had that at a Christmas party, it was delish. Orange cake. Consommé, though it's been ages since I've had that. Hard to get at sea, you understand, being a rugged pirate and all that.

I don't know how to make some of those, but I'm sure we can figure something else. Do you know of a kitchen we can use?

I don't know. Never tried it before and I haven't had it in me to gather wood to feed it, but I suppose I ought to if I'm going to be living the hard life of an adventurer.

[ He holds an empty hand up, gesturing how one holds a sandwich. Of course he wants to show Stede a sampling of his favorite kinds, and they can see each other through this... picture thingy, but... not really the same as seeing the man in person, is it? ]

[ Wine is kind of rarity around these parts compared to ale and harder spirits, so an impressive feat on Stede's part if he manages it. Anyway, it'll give Ed a little time, maybe, to steal some meats and things. What else goes between the bread again? He'll figure it out. ]
