[he looks a little haggard, his hair a little limp, it's difficult to find the right products these days in these parts but he's not overly worried. He has a rather more urgent situation at hand]

Hello, all!

I was er... wondering if anyone had any ideas for simple meals. Very simple meals. Meals that even a child could make and don't require anything strange. I did have a hot box but... [he gestures to where there is a very exploded microwave] It blew up.

Any help would be appreciated.

...My goodness, what did you try cooking in there?

You don't need a healer, do you?

[Haha, what is that exploded thing he has? Did you explode a thing, Stede? Well, don't worry, Med'an will only laugh about it off-screen.]

Omelets are good! I've been making them since I was little. I could teach you.

I can help you with cooking if you'd like.

Well ...

[She's never tried to teach anyone like this before, but it can't be too hard right?]

What do you like?

Next time, don't put anything metal in the microwave. [A beat, ngh,] The hot box.

[At least, this is what he's assuming happened, otherwise Holy Shit Dude.]

....How good are you at not blowing up a stove?

You just aren't using knives anymore? Then how are you doing any cooking--[OKAY NO THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE.] Yes, we use them all the time at the clinic. Did you use iodine as well? You need to make sure to disinfect any cuts, especially if you've been handling meat.

[Some of those she ... doesn't know. But hey! She's willing to learn.]

I don't know how to make some of those, but I'm sure we can figure something else. Do you know of a kitchen we can use?

[ Ed winces, looking sheepish for a moment. ]

Yeah, still sorry about the kitchen, mate.

[ More optimistically: ]

Hey, you heard of this meal called a sandwich, yet?

Scissors are useful but they aren't meant for food. Besides, they could get germs trapped in them and make you sick. [She's just recently learned about germ theory and it explains SO MUCH.] I think it's better in the long run to learn how to use a knife safely.

Iodine is a chemical that's used to disinfect injuries. If you don't want your cuts to sicken, you need to get a little cloth and rub them down with iodine.

[ Ed's eyebrows raise like, yeah, no, good point, Stede probably would have.

He's too excited to even doubt the second part, though. ]

Ah... You've gotta try these things, man. You take two pieces of sliced bread, and you put whatever you want between them, anything, like a little meal pocket.

[ He holds an empty hand up, gesturing how one holds a sandwich. Of course he wants to show Stede a sampling of his favorite kinds, and they can see each other through this... picture thingy, but... not really the same as seeing the man in person, is it? ]

'S now okay?

Fortunately, there's no need to use leeches here. [much to her own relief, they're her least favorite part of medicine] I could give you a lot of technical details, but the short of it is that most disease is caused by things too small to see.

No? I think you could apply some of the principles.

[Well ....... that's something.]

Y-yes. That'll do. Do you ... have any supplies?

[Or should she bring some? Guess she should bring something to clean up the place with as well.]

Germs? Well--everywhere. [SHE KNOWS THAT ISN'T REASSURING] Not all of them are harmful, but the bad ones can get into your body through wounds. That's why it's so important to clean them.

I was thinking more of the advice that swordfighting instructors give--to think of the sword as an extension of your arm. That might help with using a knife, too.
