My name is Mr. Knight. ( is it? of course not, but there's nothing to marc's demeanour that says otherwise; and for those familiar, his accent says 'chicago!' ) I'm a priest. ( certainly, by A Definition, and by that, we mean 'by marc spector's definition and no-one else's, except (maybe) an ancient egyptian moon god's'. )

At home, I ran a mission — the Midnight Mission — through which I protected my community and my people. Travellers of the night. ( a breath of a pause and he holds up a hand (gloved, white, because of course) and gestures vaguely at his surroundings. ) A change in circumstances doesn't change my duty. [ In theory, the Doctor doesn't particularly have anything against clergy folk. It really comes down to their personalities. But at least he seems to have neutral feelings towards Marc, at least from what he knows of him. ]

Interesting take on a priest habit. But then again, I knew a church where it was rude to wear any clothing at all, so who am I to judge? What exactly does your god preach?

Right, I suppose some people might not take very kindly to priests. Bit of a polarizing topic depending on the person.

[ His eyes glint in familiarity on the other side of the holographic video. If there was a little ticker that showed his thoughts, he'd add vengeance to the end of that sentence too. ]

Of course. I spent a little bit of time with Cleopatra once, enough to learn about Ancient Egyptian gods and their reverence for cats. [ She wanted to claim him as her king and then he had dropped her off somewhere in Africa years past her time where he hoped she would be much happier than she had been at home — but details. ] But if I recall, his domain covered a little more than that. [ Ah, vengeance. ] Does your work also cover that?

[ It's hard to glean if he's judging by tone of voice alone. The accent tends to colour and skew it that way. But there's curiosity in his gaze, probably a better indicator that he's simply fact collecting and learning. ]

[What a curious guy. Kisara can't quite say what she makes of him just yet, but he seems interesting. The notion of what she interprets as protecting people or possibly escorting them, especially at night, resonates with her. She may not know what she is to Viscint any longer, but she does know that she is good at protecting others.

Why make it any more difficult than that?]

I think this is a great idea. We still don't really know what to expect here and it wouldn't make sense to assume everyone can handle themselves. I wouldn't call myself an expert or anything, but I was a guardsmen back home. Was it especially dangerous where you came from?

Army? ( is what he assumes, but given the breadth and variation in the places they're from, 'guardsman' could mean almost anything. ) There were places that were more dangerous than others. I wouldn't call New York especially dangerous, but I'd say it's something that depends on who you are. Certain lines of work invite more ( ... ) attention than others.

Makes sense, either way. Different things are dangerous to different people. [There's never a blanket address for any of that. What's dangerous to her could be absolutely trivial to someone else. Same goes for any of the others from Dahna.] I don't think any of us are going to turn down a capable hand, regardless. Knowing they have someone looking out for them will give others here a little more peace. We could all benefit from that, even if it's fleeting.

Depends on the religion, but prayer is only one aspect of worship. ( and certainly not anything marc likes to indulge in. he barely likes to communicate with khonshu at the best of times. )

( in theory, it's a simple question. in practise — no. there is no religion, not with regards to khonshu. it's about fulfilling his duty and that's it. there's not a single part of marc that would wish following khonshu on anyone else, in spite of his mission and his (self-)proclamations of being a priest.

the other answer to the question is the religion he no longer practises, the one he'd thrown away in selima in favour of khonshu and a chance to live. )

( marc spector is not a gentleman. he never has been and never will be, which is the point. the suit is meant as a stark contrast to who and what moon knight is — as is mr. knight. moon knight is the fist, where mr. knight is more palatable. more family friendly. the version that works with authorities (sort of, at least) instead of being threatened with arrest; and meets with little old ladies to find out who and what's been terrifying their apartment complex.

marc doesn't do any of it because he's a good person (he's not), he does it because he wants to be a good person.
