I had a strange dream last night I was standing on trial for trying to kidnap someone. My reasons for doing so was because I deemed that someone dangerous to a person close to me. Am I really in the wrong for attempting to do such an action? I need some consultation here.

i think it is important to ask that person whether they want to hurt your friend before you kidnap them just for being dangerous

Legally speaking, kidnapping is a crime even if you happen to believe that you have good reason for it. Or else people would go around kidnapping everyone!

Or so they say. I happen to think most people don't jump directly to kidnapping. We can hardly pass judgment without hearing more about exactly how they were dangerous, to who, and what course of action you took prior to kidnapping. And then what you planned to do afterwards, of course. Many such cases end in death, after all.

Plain and simply, I wanted to capture him on my superior's orders so he could be interrogated. If it was my own volition, I would have opt to killing this dangerous person, but I am under orders not to.

I have not heard of abducting someone for that purpose before. Gaining something for freeing them is the typical goal.

I don't believe it is unusual to feel the need to go to any length if you care about a person, however. There may not be a right or a wrong answer in those cases.

He wanted to take my superior's secretary, and endangering her weighs as heavily as endangering my superior. He was also wanted to kill my superior so of course I find him dangerous. But my superior just wants to capture him for questions... I don't know what he wanted to do afterwards, but as of now I am not allowed to kill this person.
