He wants me to ask if there's such a thing as going “too far” to protect someone you love. What extent would you go to protect others? Would you physically harm them if it meant saving them from harm?

I am uncertain what constitutes "too far" after the events of last month. Many of us acted outside of our own control, or did things we normally would not, in the name of protecting others.

Sheep are simple and fluffy and sometimes try to steal her wallet out of her pocket -- very relatable to what she wishes to be, sometimes!]

If that person gets hurt 'cause of what you did, I guess that would be too far, right?

I think the important part is to consider the feelings of those you want to protect. Sometimes what we think might be the best for them isn't actually the case.

Do you remember a couple of months back, I thought I would save everyone from suffering by doing something terrible?

[It's been long enough that he's comfortable enough to talk about it, but he still doesn't want to say out loud that he killed Kotone and a bunch of other people because of such reasoning.]

I don't believe there is a right or wrong answer for this topic. People will do whatever they feel they must without much regard to anything else. Their actions will depend upon what the threat is.

That's a tricky one.

On one hand, I feel like I would fo anything to protect the people I care for.
But I also feel there's lines that shouldn't be crossed.
Still, to save someone I care about, maybe I would, if I couldn't find any other alternatives.

For "too far..." Yeah. I think there is one. You have to consider the other person's feelings instead of making the decision for them. Especially if it's something drastic.

I get that it's more complicated than that in practice, though.

I could give you some examples that I've been dragged into only within the last year, although I am not sure if that won't be too private.

You make it sound super easy, but what if you're not sure about what's good for someone...? Like, I always want to protect my friends. They're really important to me and I don't want them to get hurt. But then they get mad at me for taking risks, or I hurt people by accident...

I think there’s a too far, yeah. the way I look at it is, if you had to face your friend afterwards, what would they think? I’d give up most things to protect friends, but I wouldn’t want to hurt them.
