[The last thing Katsuki is used to is being uncertain - about himself, about anything he does, about the world around him and how it works. But this whole reset thing turned everything on its head. Sure, Izuku had explained about it probably being a simulation and all, but it was tough to quantify and really believe until he experienced the reset. Fought to make sure the reset happened, even though he didn't really know what that meant. So he has a few questions.]
if this is a simulation, what does that mean? for the people back home, I mean.
what does it mean for us?
["Is anything we do here real?" hangs in the air unspoken. That just feels a little too vulnerable to say out loud. All of this is a little too vulnerable, but he asks anyway. It's been weighing on him.]

Every day that passes is more devoid of meaning than the one before it, I'm afraid.
[He says, his lilt turning somber.
Well, he figures he's already given someone an existential crisis this week, might as well go for a twofer.]

you think the people back home don't even know we're here?

Time may not be moving back home.
Or we may be mere copies. Imagine our true selves living their lives while we are trapped here being sentenced for their crimes. How awful that would be!

were here
whats the difference between this and a real place
people still get hurt
you still gotta eat
its the same in every way that matters
no subject
I'm just wondering if we'll even remember this place whenever we've atoned for our crimes or whatever
no subject
thats easy
but
theres no way this place will let us go
atoning for crimes is all bullshit anyway

If I am falling behind others not being able to spar or train at my full ability I am going to destroy this place on principle.

That would benefit you more than me, but it would be better than training by myself.

The first is that the world just keeps turning without us, and that there might or might not be somebody frantically searching for us. Whether they will be in time...
The second is that we all might as well just be already dead.
no subject
that second one, you mean that's the one where our real selves are back home doing what we're supposed to do while a simulation of us rots here?

If we are not truly here, as many suspect, it may mean nothing. Our lives continue as they always have regardless of what occurs here. However, if we exist only within this simulation then once it ends, so will these versions of us.

But from what I have gathered so far, it depends. Even if this might be a simulation, that doesn't say all that much about our specific circumstances just yet. It depends on just how much is being simulated here. I guess it at least means that the world around us isn't very real, that much seems obvious after recent events.
But we could still be real.
no subject
kind of enough to mess you up in the head, huh?

In stories I've read like this, the person in the simulation was asleep and connected to machine.
