[Ugh. Shouldn't a British person be explaining this shit? Well, Scott doesn't know anyone like that around, so guess he'll be the one to do this. England owes him.

Although, aren't these fairs sort of an American thing anyway?? Whatever.

Also he's just switching to voice for this, because he doesn't trust this speech to text thing to carry out everything he wants to say in the correct tone. So, Fai gets to hear a slightly snarky, but obviously young voice come through.]

It's a festival where a bunch of nerds come together to celebrate old English traditions. Usually there are plays, food, vendors, and people all dressed up in costumes. Don't ask me too many details, I never been to one.

[He didn't think he would, so that statement causes Scott to lift an eyebrow. Guess if you're a powerful enough wizard, you can use magic to do everything.]

Didn't think you would. [...] Alright, sounds like you're weird enough to be a freak, but here's a qualifying question. What sort of magic do you specialize in? Like fire or ice?

Neither. My magic has no particular element ascribed to it.

Okay then, what does your magic do?

[ No one here knows him, and he doesn't plan on saying much about where his magic comes from or anything particularly important about it, so... ]

It attacks. That's my specialty. I can do other things, of course, but that's what I've studied the most.

[Scott ponders if it's really worth it trying to drag more information out of this guy. He has a feeling that he'd aged like 100 years trying to do that. And have an aneurysm.]

I wouldn't call it a wizard oath, but... you're right. I can't tell you.

[Right, the reason why he started all this in the first place. Getting annoyed and almost exasperated with wizard man here kind of made Scott forget about the anger he had about his own situation. It's still there, but guess less so now.

So, in a completely monotone voice that also comes off as slightly sarcastic--]

He can deal with the vagueness. After all, Fai can't exactly be mad about it when he was incredibly vague himself. ]

Sort of...? So, you had to reach a certain threshold of power to be able to wield it?

[ That's how it works for him. ]

I think it differs with each mut-- person, but after a certain age, we just get powers. Like instead of just getting pimples, you also start throwing fireballs from your hands. A two for one special.

Ah, I see. So it's simply something that happens to those similar to you.

[ Interesting. Fai's a little curious as to why he cut himself off, but he leaves it. ]

Yeah, pretty much.

[Huh, that was sort of easier than he thought, explaining all this. Not that Scott wants to volunteer himself for explaining everything mutant related, but guess it wasn't too painful.]

It involves our DNA and genes, but I couldn't tell you more. I spaced out during that lecture. [WHICH he regrets now, because Scott's been feeling like an idiot since the anger has swelled down.]

Don't worry about it. Besides, it sounds like you know enough at least for yourself, right? In cases like these, that's what is most important.

I'm less interested in knowing why I have these powers and more about learning how to control them. [Because whatever angry claim he's made about not caring to Alex, he 100% doesn't want to hurt anyone with his optic blasts.] I didn't get far with that before being here.

Possessing powers is one thing, but controlling it is a big matter of its own.

[ He knows how hard it can be, though he wonders... hm. ]

My being a wizard might be different from some of the powers that you have, but I wouldn't mind giving you a few tips someday.

[ He'd really like to avoid people putting the pieces together on how powerful he is. Wouldn't want to be asked to actually use his magic, after all. ]
