[Being in a new world is cool and all, but also sucks when everything you see is still a shade of red. Figures that the first time he's away in some new place he can't fully appreciate it, although, maybe he doesn't want to considering that stupid but truthful parchment he got referencing an incident that he's not exactly proud of.
How do they even know??
So excitement is honestly at an all time low and he's also sort of angry?? And the best thing to do when you're angry is clearly use this charm device and just say dumb shit--]
so who else is a freak here

Although, aren't these fairs sort of an American thing anyway?? Whatever.
Also he's just switching to voice for this, because he doesn't trust this speech to text thing to carry out everything he wants to say in the correct tone. So, Fai gets to hear a slightly snarky, but obviously young voice come through.]
It's a festival where a bunch of nerds come together to celebrate old English traditions. Usually there are plays, food, vendors, and people all dressed up in costumes. Don't ask me too many details, I never been to one.
[He's way too cool for that-- more like he never had the opportunity.]
voice;
Fai figures he'll switch to voice as well, his own lilt and calm way of speaking obvious even over their charms. ]
Never? You know an awful lot about them. Though, I'm not sure what "old English" traditions are. I suppose they must be exclusively from your world.
no subject
Yeah, probably. [Unless he's been living under a rock or something.] Don't worry about it.
So. You're an actual wizard with magic then.
no subject
I am! I don't use it for everything, though.
no subject
Didn't think you would. [...] Alright, sounds like you're weird enough to be a freak, but here's a qualifying question. What sort of magic do you specialize in? Like fire or ice?
[...He just wants to hear Fai talk about magic okay.]
no subject
Neither. My magic has no particular element ascribed to it.
no subject
[Don't leave a guy hanging!! He's being ultra patient here.]
no subject
It attacks. That's my specialty. I can do other things, of course, but that's what I've studied the most.
no subject
That's the biggest non-answer I've ever heard in my life.
no subject
Well, you got me there! But that's the only answer I can give!
no subject
You under some secret wizard oath or something? [...] Guess I can't ask you to break it.
no subject
I wouldn't call it a wizard oath, but... you're right. I can't tell you.
[ It's for the best anyway. ]
So, what prompted you to ask this question in the first place? I'm curious.
no subject
So, in a completely monotone voice that also comes off as slightly sarcastic--]
I have an attack ability too.
[He'll just be vague too because he can.]
no subject
Anyway.
He can deal with the vagueness. After all, Fai can't exactly be mad about it when he was incredibly vague himself. ]
So, is it like magic? Or something completely different?
no subject
No magic. It's... an ability I was born with. Sort of.
[An ability that sort of manifested in the worst place possible. Really, tell him what's worse than the bathroom of a public high school. In Ohio.] Didn't really appear until recently.
no subject
[ That's how it works for him. ]
no subject
[Lucky them.]
no subject
[ Interesting. Fai's a little curious as to why he cut himself off, but he leaves it. ]
no subject
[Huh, that was sort of easier than he thought, explaining all this. Not that Scott wants to volunteer himself for explaining everything mutant related, but guess it wasn't too painful.]
It involves our DNA and genes, but I couldn't tell you more. I spaced out during that lecture. [WHICH he regrets now, because Scott's been feeling like an idiot since the anger has swelled down.]
no subject
Don't worry about it. Besides, it sounds like you know enough at least for yourself, right? In cases like these, that's what is most important.
no subject
[A defeated groan is audible this time, partly because he's smushing the charm against his face now.]
I'm less interested in knowing why I have these powers and more about learning how to control them. [Because whatever angry claim he's made about not caring to Alex, he 100% doesn't want to hurt anyone with his optic blasts.] I didn't get far with that before being here.
no subject
[ He knows how hard it can be, though he wonders... hm. ]
My being a wizard might be different from some of the powers that you have, but I wouldn't mind giving you a few tips someday.
no subject
Someday, huh? Not gonna give me some great wise tips right now? [Okay he's not holding back the attitude now.]
no subject
I can't air out all of my secrets when just anyone could listen in, can I?
[ He'd really like to avoid people putting the pieces together on how powerful he is. Wouldn't want to be asked to actually use his magic, after all. ]
no subject
Oh fuck you think they're listening in on our conversation right now?
[He didn't really think about that. Too busy being an angry dumbass.]
