Greetings to all of Aldrip. My name is Abe no Seimei and I come bearing warnings and offerings.
Some time within the last month, pieces of a resident called Dara have been taken from her and spread throughout the city. While macabre on its own, these pieces will also soon begin to radiate harmful miasma into the air and effect all living things in the surrounding area. The effects are not unlike an illness--sluggishness, soreness, chills and so on, but continued exposure will not only worsen the effects on your body but your mind, bringing fear, despair, violent urges...if left unchecked, it will eventually suffocate all it touches.
As part of my duties back home, I have extensive experience mitigating and cleansing such miasma. I am, however, only one man and certain we've all noticed the city's sudden growth recently.
In exchange for assistance in the search for these missing pieces, I am offering personally charmed talismans to significantly lessen the effects of the miasma in tainted areas and cleansing to those who have already felt its effects. You will find me on the main road between the inn and the library.
For the moment that is all. May we find each other well.
[ ooc: this coincides with the current player plot! please feel free to use this as an ic mingle for making plans or ask seimei any questions. good hunting! ]

[ He was told that death was not permanent, at least previously, but that really doesn't change how insane this is. ]
And how did you find all this out?

It's probably a good idea for people to stay together, in case it's dangerous. We don't have any clues who did it yet, right?
[But it's On Sight if she finds the culprit, because damn!! She likes that snake lady!!]
voice
But no. No clues towards the culprit as of yet. I haven't been able to do as much personal investigating as I would like.

When he speaks, he tries to keep his voice the same even tone as usual-- but it's probably obvious that he's pissed.]
...Her curse, right?
[A god of curses, one who had originally shown up worried that a piece of her, sealed in a box, was unaccounted for and would lead to this same such Miasma.]
I'll start looking. You're bringing them back to her, right?
[He'd skimmed the replies, but might as well be sure.]
voice
Correct. There will be a ritual to feed these pieces back to her as offerings to right the wrongs done.

Is there a way of locating them? Other than smell it'd be hard to detect such a thing and if they've been buried....

So what's in it for us besides a talisman? It's just I normally get paid for this kind of thing.

Do the talismans work for animals too?
[ Shinjiro's already asked him for help, which means both he and Koromaru are going to need talismans. ]

They should. You're planning on bringing an animal?

Okay, so... some poor woman has been gruesomely tortured, and the city is cursed as a result, is that right? I'll take one of those talismans, if you've got more to spare. But -- do we know who did this, or why?
no subject
Should any of you come across clues towards the culprit, however, I would be grateful if they could be passed to me as well.

Voice
[Spoken with the strained and anxious tone of someone who was not prepared to think about this sort of thing today. He sees, and he really wishes he didn't have to.
Still, someone's been horribly assaulted, and lots more people are in danger. He's got to step up, regardless of how upsetting and confusing the situation at hand is, or how unsettling the mission sounds. Heroes don't always have the luxury to be squeamish.]
If we find anyone who's been affected by this miasma while searching, is there anything we can do to help them? Or should we direct them to you?
no subject
If it seems they've only been exposed to the miasma for a short time, finding them a safe place outside its radius to rest would be sufficient.
If they have been in its area of effect for some time, which should be plain from how much pain they appear to be in, bring them to me. I will see to their treatment.
audio
[ A stunningly insightful commentary from your local terrorist. ]
So what, you're gonna go on a scavenger hunt for her organs and just... put her back together?
no subject
That would be a succinct summary of the plan, yes. Should we find all the necessary pieces in time.
