Regarding these "crimes", has anyone found the accusation to be... oddly lenient?

For example, perhaps you were charged with the simple theft of a piece of fruit when it would not be out of the question to be accused of a deliberate arson attack. Or do the unspecified powers that be not involve themselves with acts that are traditionally considered to be the most severe?

Either way, I just hope that something comes out of it because I just don't want anyone to feel as though they are being punished for something that isn't a crime.
