It seems that we have new arrivals here once more! Welcome, everyone. I'm Ethlyn.

Since many of us have martial skills, the locals often hire us to hunt dangerous beasts outside of town, and in March we had to go on a lengthy expedition through the forest... suffice it to say, as peaceful as Aldrip itself is, there are dangers around it if you aren't careful. And while I'm sure that appeals to an adventurous spirit in some of you, I'm going to advise you all to be cautious and prepare well if you make an expedition outside of town.

Which brings me to the Arztenritter. Think of us as a band of knights--except instead of bringing a sword or a lance, we bring first aid. Right now, the Arztenritter is me, Marianne, Rinoa, Młynar, Noel, and Astralin. If you find yourself in a pickle, call one of us and we'll ride out to help!

And, if you have any interest in healing and horseback riding, tell me! I'm always happy to add more people to our ranks.

So it's something universal--I wonder what element I'm attuned to?

Regardless, even if your healing abilities don't work on a person, would you still have enough knowledge of anatomy and medicine to do your first aid by hand?

I could tell you if we met. {Runyu considers her question and nods.} I can stop bleeding and I know of useful herbs.

Then you'll be a welcome sight to an injured person with even the most fiery of spirits.

What's your name? And do you know where the Willow Clinic is? I'd like to meet you and see your skills firsthand.

I am Runyu. {He pauses and then smiles.} Yes, I believe I can come to you without any difficulty. Are you free presently?

It's nice to make your acquaintance, Runyu. I don't have anything particular to do right now, so I'm happy to meet.

{He makes the journey quickly - there are perks to being a god - and lets himself into the clinic. His time in Aldrip has changed him; he is no longer a proud, untouchable Emperor, but rather a semi-normal looking man focused on solving the problems set before him.

He is determined to go home. Others may have managed it, so he hasn't lost hope.}

Hello?

[Ethlyn looks up when the door opens--she's presently sweeping up in the waiting room--and smiles.]

Ah! Runyu--it's nice to meet you in person. I'm Ethlyn, of course. [It just seems more correct to introduce herself, even though they were just conversing moments ago.] Shall we go to the back? I'm not sure how you'd best demonstrate your abilities.

{The sight of her...helps. Runyu has an easier time with kind ladies, though they also make him incredibly shy.}

I'm honored to meet you, Ethlyn. {He flushes faintly and smiles, nodding.} If you want to see my...true form...we should go outside. Otherwise I can show you my magic in the back.

[True form...? Is the way he looks now some sort of guise? Ethlyn thinks about the Miracle of Dahna, when twelve gods took human form to bless the Crusaders. But even though one of those people was her ancestor (and another was her husband's) it's too outlandish to think that something similar might be happening right now in a little clinic on the edge of a peaceful farming town.]

Let's stick with this form for now, eh? [Should she be joking about it...? Well, she already has, and he seems a little nervous, so she's just trying to put him at his ease. She pushes open the door to the business end of the clinic--it's a modest place, with a few examination rooms, some posters detailing various symptoms to look for and the importance of vitamins, and the smell of alcohol and iodine. She ] Can you use your abilities in open air, without it being on a real person? I'm not sure a training dummy would be exactly right--they're made of wood and cloth.

{And yet...it is. Runyu is the son of a dragon and a fish. Both are - or were - immortal, so they too had human forms.

Her response makes him blink and he smiles to himself, realizing that he might have confused her. Not everyone is aware of the oddities of Heaven, Hell or even the immortals that live on Earth.}

I don't mind. {He follows her and takes in the posters, finding their information fascinating.} Yes, I can. I have a better idea, however. Do you happen to have a knife?

A knife? Yes. [She finds a scalpel and hands it to him--perhaps she ought to be more hesitant, but instead she hands it over, handle first.] What are you going to do?

{He grasps the knife and cuts his arm. Calling forth his power - a blue glow - he wraps the tendril of magic around the wound. The gash heals.}

That is how I can heal another.

Wait--!

[Ethlyn reaches out, but too late to stop Runyu from cutting his own skin to show her. She stares as he calls the power from inside himself, effortlessly moving it to heal the injury.]

Oh--I see--very effective.
