Compared to the demon world where 90% of it is kill or be killed - even a human world at war or on the precipice of disaster is rather serene.

I've seen it enough to know.

can't really imagine it worse than the human world at war constantly.

Most of it is woods, canyons and rivers. Completely wild and fairly full of other demons looking for someone weaker to take down or stronger to test themselves against.

There are the cities where the now former kings live like Alaric, Tourin and Gandara, but that is more a chess game for who kills who instead of simply chasing each other in the woods.

I’ve heard of peaceful towns for demons who prefer not to fight but I’ve never had a reason to visit them.

Even less now that I’ve somehow involved myself in some form of politics.

oh politics sucks. I let Caitlyn deal most of that at home, if we have to deal with it at all.

Unfortunate consequences of being hand picked by a king. It isn't all bad but I do miss simply being 'Hiei' in the woods.

uhhh... well, for one, we had a richer upper class oppressing us for generations. poisoning our air. killing our people if we tried to fight back. then some bitch thirsty for power stirred it all up and almost caused the apocalypse. so that all happened.

... what was it like when you were just hiei in the woods?

We are all animals in the end. Did you at least avert disaster or kill your oppressors?

Quieter. No one pissing and whining about the fact I was chosen by the former king they so badly want the attention of. As if she gives a shit about any of it anymore.

people get jealous of that, so i'm not surprised. don't blame you for wanting a quiet life, though.

It can. Sometimes, though, it is the only way to establish that you will not be toyed with.

It hasn't been quiet since I ran into my now partner by accident in the human world. I don't know if it will be again for a long time, actually. But as demons there are centuries ahead so I'm sure he would tell me some bullshit about patience.

maybe. i'm not against using brute force of course, but it's the senseless killing that gets me.

ah, yeah. patience isn't really my strong point, either. even in my short mortal life.

Many use the idea of collateral damage as leverage. It works, but only if you can shoulder the consequences. Mukuro used that for the most part in her heyday.

People do not argue when they are afraid.

I doubt it will become mine. But when most of the demons you associate with have a thousand or so years in you it becomes their favorite plucking point.

eh, even if I lived for thousands of years, I probably wouldn't have any either. if things don't go my way in the here and now it's annoying.

Then you figure out who the strongest is by the last survivor, so far as demon world is concerned.

Yes. I don’t see that changing for me, either.

Then you forget what you were fighting about until someone comes up with something new. Or the old idea just different enough.

I happen to know someone who has died and come back twice, in our world.

I wouldn’t want it but I am also unsure I would have a choice.

there's someone who was forcibly... remade in my world. that's the only instance I know of there.

Yusuke in our group has come back to life twice now. Despite my.. transgressions against spirit world I have a feeling if I was needed for something they would find a way to revive me for their means. Or so the others shut up, more likely.

I know. One of ours was killed and I don’t know if his killer realizes how thankful he ought to be that he does not want something like revenge.
