01. What Do Dreams Serve (video)

[Rosen was originally intending to avoid discussing his experiences visiting other people's dreams. That was until he began to reflect on some of the dreams he experienced and their underlying meaning. This explains why, for the first time in quite some time. Rosen is back on the big screen, appearing a little less cheerful and aggressive than before.

That's why he appears on video within the hustle and bustle of some fancy cafe. He's dressed in a seemingly tailored dark blue suit, minus the shirt, with his long white hair combed back and out of his eyes.]

Dreams are fickle, aren't they? Whether good or bad, the dreams we have are significantly more essential than we know. They reveal the truth about ourselves, frequently admonishing our fears while celebrating our victories.

Each dream you have is significant, whether you recognize it or not.

So...

[He pauses for a brief moment, clearly struggling to find the right words to say.]

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that you should think hard about your dreams and try to figure out what you fear or love about yourself. Dreams have a lot of importance, and some of you should sit down and consider what they mean to you.

If you have dreams about your "teeth" falling out, it usually means you are scared or anxious about a significant change in your life.

Maybe if you paid attention more to your dreams, you wouldn’t be such an abrasive little shit.

[ Toph is a rude gremlin child but she's also one that takes any pushback in stride. Accordingly, she does actually engage in the conversation he'd been trying to have, even if she's still not going to commit to any personal reflection of her own. ]

The dream thing kind of sucks honestly
I kept getting my hopes up before realizing I was dreaming
But it's still not as bad as that time we all forgot who we were

[Rosen mentally applauds her for even bothering to speak about the suspect at hand. He was anxious that his message had gotten lost in translation somewhere. It would not be the first time, especially given his difficulty expressing empathy.]

If you don't mind me asking, what did you dream? It almost sounds as if you was chasing after something.

[ Toph would much rather no one get too empathetic at her directly. She can put up with a frank discussion a lot better than something soppy. So she actually shares a little now, proving her self-confidence isn't just bravado; she can be at least a little vulnerable without being defensive. ]

I haven't been home in over a year now
I kept thinking my friends were here
It just seems weird no one I know has shown up in all this time

Like I said, pretty obvious. I don't need a dream to tell me what I'm thinking on that one

You really don't need my input with that. It's natural to miss your home after being away for so long. But I can't help but wonder why some of us are here instead of others.

Maybe it depends on the severity of the alleged crime?

[This whole "sentencing" bullshit really confuses him. Rosen doesn't quite understand why he's here other than just being a tad vain.]

[ Ugh. That's getting too sentimental. Toph forcibly brings it back in. ]

I doubt it, there's plenty of people from my world way worse than me
We just finished a hundred year worldwide war
You'd think some of the real assholes would show up if that was the case
I don't think it has to do with crimes at all, that's just an excuse

You miss your friends, plain and simple It makes sense.
The friendships made here are fleeting at best. Not at all like the bonds you already have.

[This is why he utterly refuses to get close to anyone here. At the end of the day, none of this shit matters. It's another bad dream, if anything.]

Well, that makes more sense than anything else. If this were Hell, those bastards would certainly be here in our place.

So that begs the question, what the hell is Aldrip all about?

[While he's just joking, Rosen has similar feelings about some people. There are one or two individuals that he would gladly accompany home.]

Not at all. Besides, I'm more curious about HOW the fuck we got inside of a computer than anything else!
