Good afternoon, this is Mitsuru Kirijo.

For those who don't already know, I have just opened a new establishment, House of Leaves. It's a combination of tea shop and book store.

I was considering hosting a book club at the shop. It will be held on a fortnightly basis, in the evenings, after closing time.

There will, of course, be refreshments for those concerned about that.

Please let me know if you are interested. I will also gladly accept suggestions for reading material.

I enjoy historical fiction, some romances.
I find that reading about people who are nothing like me is quite interesting.

Oooh, I like romances, too! Scott groans whenever I want to go see one, but I think it's fun!

[Instantly jumps to "see" instead of "read" because this girl simply doesn't read books unless she has to.]

I haven't seen many romance movies. Just one before I came here and I found the plot quite frustrating.
Perhaps I should watch more.

Oooh yeah. The plot where like, the movie would be over in 15 minutes if they just talked to each other??

I guess those kinds are good as examples of what not to do!!

Yes, that was quite the gist of it.

The male love interest had been hiding the fact that he was a prince all along. I failed to see the logic in him not telling her sooner.

That and the movie ended just as they were settling down together. It showed nothing of the inevitable struggles that would follow after, given his royal position and the pressures he must be under as heir.

It was all rather silly.

Maybe he wanted to pretend to be normal for a little while! That would be kind of a nice story.

I think in those kinds of movies, you're not supposed to think about those kinds of struggles. Usually people want a "happily ever after" kind of ending, right?

Maybe you could write your own ending!

I suppose you're right.

Perhaps I'm thinking about it too realistically. Logic and reason don't seem to be important factors in romance...

My own ending? As in try my hand at fiction writing?

They're not! Even in real life.

[Like it would be ~logical~ for Mitsuru to stay with that one asshole, but Kotone would throw hands with him in a heartbeat if he ever showed his dumb face again.]

And yeah, why not? Don't book clubs and writing about books kind of go together? Movies are basically more interesting books, so same thing!

I can't say that I agree with you about movies being more interesting but I take your point. Perhaps I'll give it a try some time.

That does sound a bit like the plot of a romantic movie.

Mostly for him, I think!! He's really passionate. 🥰 Sometimes he brings me dinner without me asking if I'm at work, or he'll bring home flowers for no reason at all!!
