OKCINDR POST #5

Ever wanted to have CR with a character and wasn't sure how to get them to cross paths? Wanted a dating app so you can hook up with hot people? Wanted to just find friends because you're a lonely bastard?

With the update of the tablets and the apps, we now have a dating / friendship app called OKCINDR! Players can use it as they please for the two months that it's up -- just imagine that they're profiles to swipe right on and everything. The idea is to encourage CR that may be difficult to get with characters who may or may not be interested in events / posts / logs / other network posts.

So, on January 2nd, characters randomly look back at their tablets to see the following:

OKCINDR PROFILE RESET #4
PLEASE RESET PROFILE

This month, if players reset their profile, they will have a list of questions to answer:

- What is the maximum amount of sheep you have counted when trying to fall asleep?
- Is it harder to forgive yourself, or to forgive others?
- How strongly do you feel that the past defines a person?
- What is your dream?
- Why would an android's dream contain electric sheep? Are they particularly drawn to livestock animals?
- If you could return to one specific moment in your life, would you?
- How do you wake up from a dream?
- Please
- Wake up
- You must wake up

Players, of course, are able to ignore this message. However, if a character wouldn't fill it out but a player would like to participate... the profile mysteriously resets itself. There may even be responses sent from Character A to Character B without Character A actually doing anything, if you'd like! This is a completely opt-in scenario! But for players who would like to participate fill out the post:

network profile
Character_Name
@username
ABOUT_ME

If you'd like to for shits and giggles, here's some notifications that may be used:

Name (@username) followed you

Name (@username) unfollowed you

Name (@username) blocked you

Have fun! Code credit.

oh nah the coffins were weird. but the toads were my little buddies! they just wanted to be entertained, and I even got a few kisses out of it.

To each their own, then. I have better uses for my time than being stuck at the mercy of armed amphibians.

don't worry, they're gone now. I went looking and couldn't find a single one. that doesn't mean you won't be at the mercy of something ELSE though. plenty of weird stuff happens here, so keep an eye out.

Yes, so I have been told. A friend has been here for quite some time, and her notes are thorough.

I'm glad someone's taking notes. we still don't know a lot about this place, and if we ever want to get out of here we'll need all the help we can get.
runeing: (( 23 ))

[personal profile] runeing 2025-01-21 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
And what makes you think we can get out of here at all? That we are not simply copies of ourselves, created from the original psyche, locked in here like mice in a cage?
mightymorphin: (C; what would you trade the pain for?)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2025-01-21 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
'cause a couple of months ago, we got a look outside. a crack opened up, big enough that I was able to stick my arm through it and feel around on the floor on the other side.

I even went tiny and tried to hop through it - I'm a shapeshifter, so that wasn't a big deal - but trying to escape knocked me out. it still proved that we oughta be able to safely leave if we can get that crack opened back up... and disable whatever's keeping us from fully going through it.

[personal profile] runeing 2025-01-22 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Why is it that nobody talks about these things?

So you saw a crack and felt something on the other side. You're sure it was a floor? And why are you convinced it was the outside of the simulation and not yet another part of it?

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2025-01-22 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
beats me. there were a lot of monster attacks going on at the same time, but it was hard to miss.

yep, we could see through to the other side. it looked like whatever this simulation is contained in is inside a huge metal structure. maybe empty? I couldn't find anything after feeling around on the floor. and it... it tingled for a while, and then things felt more real. y'know, I've been here months and never thought there was anything wrong with me, but that floor felt more solid than anything here does.

And none of that seems strange to you? That you, a simulated consciousness, could reach out into the real world and somehow touch it?

Even if these are somehow our bodies here, made and remade again, we should not be able to simply walk out of a crack appearing in the simulated reality. That is not how simulations work.
mightymorphin: (C; what would you trade the pain for?)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2025-01-24 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
you got any proof that our minds aren't the real deal, buddy?

I have some experience with simulations from my world, too. we have one called the Danger Room. there's some alien tech involved, but the short of it is that it's this big room that creates holograms of locations and enemies for whoever walks inside of it. they're awfully realistic, too - we use it for combat training, but we have a few vacation spots programmed into it just for fun.

Who said copied consciousnesses aren't "the real deal"? I mean we are not the same, singular version of ourselves from the timeline we have been living, because if we were, we would be removed from the original one and put here, and thus disappear from our worlds. We have not done that, which means there is at least a version of ourselves still there, in our worlds, living. Whether we are the original or not hardly matters - but I believe we are not, nor that our bodies are truly here in the flesh. Otherwise, why do the bodies disappear when we die here, only to reappear a week later? That is only one of the many things suggesting this is not our real bodies, inside some hologram like your Danger Room.

You are making assumptions based on what you know. I am making assumptions based on the evidence given to us and the likelihood of each scenario. Perhaps the time may come when I am proven incorrect, and I will embrace that if it happens. But until then, I will stick to my hypothesis.
mightymorphin: (C; and i've been putting your name to it)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2025-01-25 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
hold on, you think we don't disappear from our worlds? that buddy of yours write that down somewhere? 'cause I gotta say, everyone around here so far has been real happy to throw around what they think what is going on without any actual proof. if this system can pluck us all from our different timelines, who says it can't return us right where and when it grabbed us from?

maybe we are copies, or maybe our brains are hooked up to the computer running this thing. either way, we all saw something on the other side, and even if it's more of the simulation I think we'd be better off trying to peel back the layers of this onion... unless you're gonna tell me you don't think it's important.
runeing: (( 20 ))

[personal profile] runeing 2025-01-26 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, because an all-powerful entity capable of removing people from a specific point in their timelines would surely put these people in a failing simulation, instead of a perfect illusion created around us.

I am making assumptions, yes, but so are you. You have just as little proof as I do, which makes the conversation on that part unnecessary.

But no, I will not say it is not important. On that, I agree. We must investigate it further.
mightymorphin: (pic#17438343)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2025-01-31 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
buddy, you also have no proof that we were picked out by something actually intelligent and not a machine attached to the glitchy computers running this place. but at least you're one of the first to admit that we don't have enough info to decide if we're real people or not.

great, at least we can agree on something.
runeing: (( 23 ))

[personal profile] runeing 2025-02-02 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I don't. I was saying that based on your theory that we were picked out of our timelines perfectly. If it is that, then why would a machine capable of that be glitching like it has been?

Don't confuse my disagreement as disapproval. Your arguments are interesting. When actual experimentation is not an avenue we can pursue, by thinking about this at all, exchanging ideas, ruling out illogical options, we will arrive closer to the truth. That you're thinking about this at all shows far more initiative than most here.
mightymorphin: (C; the stars are the same as ever)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2025-02-08 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
dunno, it just seems to me like it'd be easier to kidnap someone and hook 'em up to a computer, then it would be to full out scan people's brains and make copies. a lot of the Chosen are from vastly different places, so it's already grabbing people from other worlds, however it's doing it.

I'm thinking about it because I want to find a way to bust us out. I know it might look like we're all settled in here, but there's plenty of us that aren't happy being away from home, or being at the whims of the systems running this place.
runeing: (( 23 ))

[personal profile] runeing 2025-02-12 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That it can reach many worlds is something that we all have to agree on. And until we are able to leave this construct, it may be we have no way of finding out how it does that.

And you assume I am not one of those people who isn't happy being here because...?
mightymorphin: (C; i used to be a real go-getter)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2025-02-17 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
right, while we're in the simulation it'll be really tough for us to figure out how anything outside of it works.

I'm just saying it 'cause you're pretty new, right? we don't really have a choice but to go about our daily lives until we can ferret out something else about this place. other people have tried to blow things up before and didn't really get anywhere.
runeing: (( 75 ))

[personal profile] runeing 2025-02-24 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Trust me, I do not tend to solve my problems by blowing them up.

And I shall keep working on the problem in different ways. I have no intention of staying here at the mercy of this construct, whatever it is.
