OKCINDR POST #5

Ever wanted to have CR with a character and wasn't sure how to get them to cross paths? Wanted a dating app so you can hook up with hot people? Wanted to just find friends because you're a lonely bastard?

With the update of the tablets and the apps, we now have a dating / friendship app called OKCINDR! Players can use it as they please for the two months that it's up -- just imagine that they're profiles to swipe right on and everything. The idea is to encourage CR that may be difficult to get with characters who may or may not be interested in events / posts / logs / other network posts.

So, on January 2nd, characters randomly look back at their tablets to see the following:

OKCINDR PROFILE RESET #4
PLEASE RESET PROFILE

This month, if players reset their profile, they will have a list of questions to answer:

- What is the maximum amount of sheep you have counted when trying to fall asleep?
- Is it harder to forgive yourself, or to forgive others?
- How strongly do you feel that the past defines a person?
- What is your dream?
- Why would an android's dream contain electric sheep? Are they particularly drawn to livestock animals?
- If you could return to one specific moment in your life, would you?
- How do you wake up from a dream?
- Please
- Wake up
- You must wake up

Players, of course, are able to ignore this message. However, if a character wouldn't fill it out but a player would like to participate... the profile mysteriously resets itself. There may even be responses sent from Character A to Character B without Character A actually doing anything, if you'd like! This is a completely opt-in scenario! But for players who would like to participate fill out the post:

network profile
Character_Name
@username
ABOUT_ME

If you'd like to for shits and giggles, here's some notifications that may be used:

Name (@username) followed you

Name (@username) unfollowed you

Name (@username) blocked you

Have fun! Code credit.

Please, think nothing of it. I'm glad I was able to do anything for you.

[Though he has taken note of something interesting in what Shigeru just said... Some sort of healing ability? Curious.]

I'm sure any help you're willing to offer will be worthwhile, regardless of where you direct your efforts, if just because of the dangers that tend to emerge here. Would you mind telling me what you mean by your powers?

I can't just not think about it. I could have...I could have really hurt you and everyone else. [ He actually can't stop thinking about it?! ] So I'm really grateful and sorry that you had to...see me like that.

[ But no one was hurt so that's the most important thing. ]

My powers? Oh! I use them primarily for healing...cuts, bruises, terminal illnesses, broken bones, and even missing limbs. I can heal all of that with them. But they can be used to build and break things down at a subatomic level. It's not just for organic stuff, I can use them on inorganic things too.

I can agree with being grateful that nothing like that came to pass, but I promise you it was no trouble.

[... so he's just coming out with all of that? Fascinating. There's no way this man hasn't been taken advantage of, and yet his open answer feels so... naive.]

That's quite the repertoire. Curing terminal illnesses is no small matter, even without the rest, though it's all impressive. You must have had these abilities for some time, if you have this level of understanding of them?

If you're sure... [ He still feels bad about it but he won't press the issue. ]

We're born with them. They're more like the byproduct of a curse, really. Since mine are rather dangerous it's best to thoroughly learn how to use them so that nothing too terrible happens. Remaking a person's limb wrong would be really bad, you know?
chimericalclaw: (a: curiosity)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-07 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[That is simultaneously fascinating and horrifying. A curse indeed. What other sorts of powers must this "we" have? Ah, well—it's not currently important.]

I can't imagine what that's like, but I understand trying to learn as much as you can. Do you use them in that sort of way regularly? Does it have some sort of drawback for you?

[Otherwise Shigeru would be roaming his world solving every medical problem, judging by what Altius has seen of his personality.]

There's a process to learning how to use them. Breaking things down and remaking them so we get comfortable with that, starting with basic inorganic things. But, no, I don't typically use them for limb reconstruction very often. I mean if I have to I definitely would! But I stick to basics like curing ailments, diseases, cuts, and wounds. [ A pause. ]

There used to be drawbacks to us using our powers. We would potentially get consumed by the curse and turn into the very monsters we fought... [ But... ]

Everything is different now. So we don't have to worry about that anymore and can use our powers freely however much we want.
chimericalclaw: (a: is that so)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-10 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Altius can't say he enjoys the thought of one with such powers needing to practice magically reconstructing a limb with potentially disastrous results, but he can't say he would be able to come up with an alternative. His own healing magic only ever works, or... does nothing. It is what it is, he supposes.]

I'm glad you no longer have to worry about that. Having that kind of power must be challenging enough on its own.

[Mostly because of whatever expectations might come with them, even aside from it being called a curse. What would it be like, if people in his world could perceive magic naturally? Hm.]

Do you get tire using them? Please tell me if my questions bother you, by the way. All of these supernatural things are new to me.

[personal profile] mysophobic 2025-01-11 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes? But I think that's more dependent on my state of being than the powers creating that state by using them if that makes sense?

And it's okay! I don't mind answering whatever questions you have. You seemed so calm and collected when you ran into me though?! I thought you'd be an expert or something.

[ Some people are just built different he guesses?! ]

I think I understand. I suppose a surgeon might get sloppy if they're too nervous, so it makes sense for supernatural abilities to follow similar lines.

[oh he's just got a very strong personality that way don't worry about it :)]

I suppose new is relative. I come from a world I'd refer to as mundane in comparison to so many others I've met, but in my short time here I've come to expect the unusual.

Our emotions are also somewhat tied to our powers. So that's something we have to keep in mind when using them too. [ But Shigeru is silent on his end. ]

Oh yeah? I guess there are worlds without magic and curses and gods and stuff. I have thought about it, you know, going to other worlds and stuff?? It seemed like such a cool fantasy back when I was a kid. But now that I'm actually in another world?! It's almost as amazing as I thought it would be...aside from the whole punishment thing.

But meeting new people and getting to learn about their worlds...it's pretty amazing.

[It's almost painfully naive, this mindset. All it's done for him is grant him the realization of how... powerless he truly is, in the grand scheme of things. After all the work he's put in...]

It's certainly a unique experience. I've heard some of us have even met alternate versions of themselves, or others from their own future.
mysophobic: (46 - glimpse)

[personal profile] mysophobic 2025-01-22 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Alternate versions of themselves? Oh! So it's like in sci-fi, time traveling, horror stories where people meet their doppelganger and they try to replace them and stuff?! [ Shigeru what are you reading?? ]

I wonder how reality doesn't break when that happens.
chimericalclaw: (a: is that so)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-24 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
[... look, it's not like that didn't sort of happen two months ago, but—]

Actually, it's my understanding that a pair of them exists in relative harmony here. They're simply from separate but remarkably similar worlds.

In my view, you could ask the same of this place generally. Many of us seem to hail from planet Earths that are highly similar but still distinct.
mysophobic: (58 - scrutiny)

[personal profile] mysophobic 2025-01-26 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
It must be a little weird though...seeing yourself and having a conversation with yourself?! [ Can you imagine two Shigeru's?? ]

But I guess as long as they're okay with it. Not that they really have a choice here or anything, but.

Planet...Earth? Huh never heard of it. But a lot of people are from there? Like alternate realities and stuff. It makes me think of the many-worlds theory where the choice someone makes creates a new universe and is exponential. It's pretty fascinating that we get to see it in real-time.
chimericalclaw: (a: curiosity)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-30 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
I can imagine how strange it must be, yes, but being amicable with one another could have all sorts of potential.

[Meanwhile his alternate selves would just end up trying to kill each other for reasons unrelated to replacing anybody—]

The butterfly effect, isn't it? I don't know if I believe that's the theory behind what we're encountering here, but neither could I begin to guess what might be the source of our separate origins. All I can say is that I can't argue with the concept of parallel universes at this point.
