OKCINDR POST #5

Ever wanted to have CR with a character and wasn't sure how to get them to cross paths? Wanted a dating app so you can hook up with hot people? Wanted to just find friends because you're a lonely bastard?

With the update of the tablets and the apps, we now have a dating / friendship app called OKCINDR! Players can use it as they please for the two months that it's up -- just imagine that they're profiles to swipe right on and everything. The idea is to encourage CR that may be difficult to get with characters who may or may not be interested in events / posts / logs / other network posts.

So, on January 2nd, characters randomly look back at their tablets to see the following:

OKCINDR PROFILE RESET #4
PLEASE RESET PROFILE

This month, if players reset their profile, they will have a list of questions to answer:

- What is the maximum amount of sheep you have counted when trying to fall asleep?
- Is it harder to forgive yourself, or to forgive others?
- How strongly do you feel that the past defines a person?
- What is your dream?
- Why would an android's dream contain electric sheep? Are they particularly drawn to livestock animals?
- If you could return to one specific moment in your life, would you?
- How do you wake up from a dream?
- Please
- Wake up
- You must wake up

Players, of course, are able to ignore this message. However, if a character wouldn't fill it out but a player would like to participate... the profile mysteriously resets itself. There may even be responses sent from Character A to Character B without Character A actually doing anything, if you'd like! This is a completely opt-in scenario! But for players who would like to participate fill out the post:

network profile
Character_Name
@username
ABOUT_ME

If you'd like to for shits and giggles, here's some notifications that may be used:

Name (@username) followed you

Name (@username) unfollowed you

Name (@username) blocked you

Have fun! Code credit.

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-01-04 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-01-05 02:58 am (UTC)(link)

incorrigibles: (( 24 ))

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-01-05 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
aces, neither do i

[ he's dropping the location pin for where lupin is, ]

meet me there in 30?
cactusy: (I love having to do even less)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-01-17 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
bet I'll beat you there

[Mostly because she truly has nothing else to do, so she's heading over right now. She'll also come with Bear in tow - wearing a service animal vest, in case someone tries to turn him away at the door. Is it a genuine service animal vest? Of course not. But it's always worked well for her in the past.]
incorrigibles: (( 26 ))

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-01-21 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
no bet, i'd lose.

[ which he does — even though he does what he usually does and emerges from a mirror instead of actually walking there. he's visited enough that he figures vi won't be too confused to have him step out of a mirror; and when he does, he looks around until he spots shaw and bear both, his expression brightening up into something almost blindingly sunny when he sees the dog. ]

Cheers, Shaw! Who's this, now? [ he's immediately crouching down and holding out his hands for bear to sniff, not that he has much scent there to begin with. ] Can't believe you guys have been holding out on me. I'd've taken Gab with me if I'd known. [ junpei's dog — though maybe not, really, since he's an old man and mostly just likes to nap and eat. ]
cactusy: (what the hell are these?)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-01-21 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Root just brought him here. She, uh-- asked for him to be simulated, too. I guess.

[Shaw sounds vaguely uncomfortable with the idea, but it doesn't stop her from running her fingers fondly over the fur on the dog's head - nor does it stop the dog from snuffling eagerly at Charles' hands, then tilting his head up to meet Shaw's touch.]

His name's Bear. Did you just-- where the hell did you come from?
incorrigibles: (( 30 ))

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-01-26 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Gab's the same. He's from Junpei's world. Don't think he asked for him, though, he just showed up one day.

[ he sounds far less uncomfortable with this — but then, perhaps he is too used to supernatural things happening in his general vicinity to be too worried about this. besides, he loves dogs, this is just an upside in this simulation. ]

A good boy, aren't you, Bear? [ said earnestly with a bright grin, before he lifts his gaze from the dog to shaw and laughs, a little sheepishly. ]

Oh, that? The mirror. It's a ghost thing. Quicker, innit, just step into a mirror at home and emerge here, yeah?
cactusy: (I wish to flop around in a blind rage)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-02-09 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[She knows it's not really Charles' fault, and she hates the idea of being overly catered to: treated as if she's psychologically fragile, the people around her making adjustments to accommodate her stupid trigger points. But that doesn't stop the discomfort from growing and sharpening, and she crosses her arms over her chest, pointedly angling away from the mirror - which might mean turning her back on Charles himself, depending on where he's standing in relation to it. Sorry, buddy. It's not you, it's her. At least Bear is friendly.]

Can you do it with any mirror?
incorrigibles: (( 13 ))

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-02-09 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[ it's all fine — he's used to a cold demeanor and sharp edges in those he knows, and so he knows exactly which way to turn to avoid shaw's edges from cutting him. ]

Better than that, any reflective surface will do. Like a really clear puddle of water.

[ and since he's a ghost, no need to worry about getting his feet wet, either! ]
cactusy: (this planet both wipes and sucks)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-02-09 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Weird.

[She says flatly - rubbing at her temples with her thumbs, then turning towards the bar. It's no biggie, she tells herself sternly. Weird or not, there is an explanation. He hadn't just appeared out of nowhere and then claimed ignorance. It hadn't been a glitch in the Matrix.

She's still only fifty percent crazy.]

I could use a drink.
incorrigibles: (( 29 ))

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-02-09 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Welcome to being a ghost, [ he quips back, because honestly, quite a lot of it is just... weird, when you think about it for too long. but no — he definitely didn't appear from nowhere, and it's a skill he has very much also outside of this place.

so, with a grin,
] I thought that's why we're here.
cactusy: (this planet both wipes and sucks)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-02-09 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That was a topic-changer. A segue to me enjoying my whiskey, and your whiskey on your behalf.

[She pauses, considers, and adds--]

And one on Root's behalf, too.
incorrigibles: (( 24 ))

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-02-09 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[ the frank statement just makes charles laugh, bright and sunny. ]

Right, course. So... three whiskies total? You've got to have a good alcohol tolerance.
cactusy: (I love having to do even less)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-02-09 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
First of all--

[She weaves them over to the bar counter and takes a stool, waving to the bartender. She's 100% serious about this; three whiskeys it is.]

-- yeah, I do. But I'm also making up for the last time I was stuck in a simulation. They wouldn't give me alcohol no matter how nicely I asked.
incorrigibles: (( 98 ))

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-02-10 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[ seeing that, charles makes an impressed face, a kind of oh, she's for real, damn in just one expression. ]

What, they wouldn't? That's right shitty. [ a pause. ] How'd you end up in that one?
cactusy: (let the intrusive thoughts win)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-02-17 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[The bartender sternly informs her that if she wants three whiskeys, she'll have them one at a time; Shaw shrugs and accepts, taking a long pull of the first drink when it arrives.]

Kidnapped, tortured, manipulated.

[She lists them off like grocery list items, fingers drumming against her glass.]
incorrigibles: (( 99 ))

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-02-25 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[ charles, almost about to argue that one is for him (even though it isn't) and that she should get at least the two at once, is promptly distracted by the calmly delivered list, and grips the edge of the bar tightly. ]

... Shit. [ and there's certainly follow-up questions here... but first, ]

But you made it through, yeah? [ he doesn't quite smile, but his look does soften. ] That's pretty amazing. You're really strong, Shaw.
cactusy: (time to sleep)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-02-25 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[For a certain definition of making it through, she supposes. If she really is out. If this really is real.]

You don't have to feel sorry for me.

[She says, downing half her first glass in one go.]
incorrigibles: (( 69 ))

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-02-25 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't.

[ well, not in the sort of sense where he'd be... pitying her? no, he mostly feels angry that she's had to go through something so unfair. ]

I meant what I said. You're really strong. It makes me really angry to think you had to go through it all in the first place... but it's not making me feel sorry for you. It just — [ a shrug, a faint smile, ] Makes me respect you more, I guess.
cactusy: (do you have anything for rope burns?)

[personal profile] cactusy 2025-02-25 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[Shaw studies him for what might be an uncomfortably long time before she responds. She doesn't mean it to be hostile, nor is she disbelieving of him, exactly - she's just trying to drum up the appropriate response for a situation she's never been good at.

He's glad she's safe, he thinks she's strong, he respects her. It should be easy. And yet.]

Thanks.

[She says slowly.]

I, uh-- really, I appreciate it. If it helps, most of the people who were complicit are probably dead now.
