OKCINDR POST #5

Ever wanted to have CR with a character and wasn't sure how to get them to cross paths? Wanted a dating app so you can hook up with hot people? Wanted to just find friends because you're a lonely bastard?

With the update of the tablets and the apps, we now have a dating / friendship app called OKCINDR! Players can use it as they please for the two months that it's up -- just imagine that they're profiles to swipe right on and everything. The idea is to encourage CR that may be difficult to get with characters who may or may not be interested in events / posts / logs / other network posts.

So, on January 2nd, characters randomly look back at their tablets to see the following:

OKCINDR PROFILE RESET #4
PLEASE RESET PROFILE

This month, if players reset their profile, they will have a list of questions to answer:

- What is the maximum amount of sheep you have counted when trying to fall asleep?
- Is it harder to forgive yourself, or to forgive others?
- How strongly do you feel that the past defines a person?
- What is your dream?
- Why would an android's dream contain electric sheep? Are they particularly drawn to livestock animals?
- If you could return to one specific moment in your life, would you?
- How do you wake up from a dream?
- Please
- Wake up
- You must wake up

Players, of course, are able to ignore this message. However, if a character wouldn't fill it out but a player would like to participate... the profile mysteriously resets itself. There may even be responses sent from Character A to Character B without Character A actually doing anything, if you'd like! This is a completely opt-in scenario! But for players who would like to participate fill out the post:

network profile
Character_Name
@username
ABOUT_ME

If you'd like to for shits and giggles, here's some notifications that may be used:

Name (@username) followed you

Name (@username) unfollowed you

Name (@username) blocked you

Have fun! Code credit.

[He's holding... and—? Well, an attempt was made. Will it be worth anything? Who's to say? Altius sure can't.]

Using this application to ask would be a reasonable start, as it is for meeting people. Though if you're especially desperate, I'm sure you could find someone by asking around the inn more directly.

I imagine you'll have less difficulty with that than the sheep.

[He's not judging... I mean, look at his photo.]

[Thanks, he aims to get by on pity alone. God forbid anyone think he's competent.]

Skulking about to beggar shared living accommodations is not a task I'd expected to have. The depths to which one must sink! And everyone here is so young.

[Not literally, but there are a lot of teenagers? He's not going to go up to unknown teens to ask to be roomies, how mortifying and weird.]
chimericalclaw: (a: disdain)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-03 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, if the sigh he was letting out could be heard.]

There are a number of children and particularly young adults. It makes the supposed purpose of this world even more obviously absurd.

[He wouldn't go around asking to share a room with them, either, even if he wasn't opposed to sharing a room with anyone just in general.]

Unfortunately, it's just another aggravating fact of being here.

It is a shambles, isn't it? What kind of a crime could a child commit? Ridiculous.

[Guy who committed his crime when he was a teenager: Young people don't do crime, pshhh.]

What are the other aggravating facts? I am composing a reference list for things to watch out for.
chimericalclaw: (a: curiosity)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-04 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Meanwhile, guy who basically ended up having to watch people die as a teenager by virtue of them becoming incurably corrupted and felt personally responsible:]

It's less that they're incapable and more that tearing them away from their lives and throwing them into a prison dimension is far from helpful if "rehabilitation" is the goal.

[But sure, your naive and definitely-not-hiding-anything thought is good too.]

Memory and personality manipulation and the locals' reactions making little to no sense have been my main concerns. I've come to understand that the consequences for ignoring our "sentencings" have been things such as unnatural physical alterations or the loss of abilities, as well.

[Skill issue, normal teens who aren't human black holes don't do crimes--]

I would say it depends on the life!

As I am to understand this is a simulation, the nonsensical reactions of the locals can be chalked up to programming errors (or not-so-errors!) can they not? What bothers me more is when they react not at all, like with those infernal coffins.

[He reads that last part over a second time... Well, looking forward to getting a third arm or something, he supposes? He'll not be submitting to any sentencing, god no, sounds awful.]

These sentencings are working on the honor system...? That is most certainly a choice.
chimericalclaw: (o: skepticism)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-04 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Fine, if you come from a zombie apocalypse desert planet hellhole, perhaps a simulated prison might be better. This person has already admitted to knowing next to nothing about this world, though, so he lets the topic go.]

The lack is simply another form of strange reaction. Regardless of how much we may be able to justify it, watching them simply going about their day after their fellows were just crushed to death by a hostile creature is just as unsettling.

The honor system? It's more of unlimited surveillance. The supposed council simply knows whether you've completed it, to my understanding.

A simulation would have to keep track of its data, naturally.

[Alright. Okay. He needs to simply ignore the cognitive dissonance of simulation vs. everything else. Deep breath that is completely real and not just 1s and 0s.]

And then what? Release? Reduced sentence?
chimericalclaw: (a: truth)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-05 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
[He lets out a laugh in the silence of his office.]

Then you continue your life here, such as it is, and hope they don't decide to charge you with something new, I suppose.

[personal profile] checkout 2025-01-05 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, the punishment is recursive. Wow.

[Blah blah the suffering is endless, alright, he's beginning to see.]

Then the benefits of submitting to a sentencing are purely long-term, and not because it matters in the slightest. I see!
chimericalclaw: (a: i see)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-05 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
More or less. I consider it a matter of survival until we discover a proper escape.

[Keeping their heads down, as it were—though causing trouble has its place. He's just going to let other people do that part, mostly.]

Admittedly, some of the sentences have been as mild as making friends or picking up a new hobby. Perhaps we'll be lucky.

[Is he jinxing it? Possibly. But he'll deal with whatever it is when it comes.]

Does that depend on the alleged crime, or simply how our captors are feeling that day? Do we know?

[Because... lmao........]
chimericalclaw: (a: curiosity)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-06 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have enough information to answer that. Not many are public about their accusations.

[Himself included! :)]
checkout: (batch_10)

[personal profile] checkout 2025-01-06 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
That is fair. Although they're public about their sentencing tasks, it seems.

[But only the very easy, silly ones, maybe? Hmm.]
chimericalclaw: (a: calm)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-06 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
People do love to complain. [That's just a fact!] But for every person complaining, there could be a number keeping their head down and completing their tasks silently.

Salient point. I could be one of those people right now, redeeming myself through internet posts.

Imagine! No, I am not. I will pray I go unnoticed by our mystery rulers.
chimericalclaw: (a: is that so)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-07 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Best of luck to you. I suppose we'll see how that turns out, but in the meantime I would advise caution. I don't imagine things will remain quiet for long.

Oh, that reminds me! One more thing! [maybe just one,] Is there a rhyme or a reason to when these strange things occur? I was under the impression our arrivals maintain a certain pattern, so I've been wondering.
chimericalclaw: (a: fact)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-09 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, well, if he has questions.]

There's something resembling a rhyme, from my research. I wouldn't expect more than a month to pass without something significant happening, between our arrivals and whatever dangers emerge.

[personal profile] checkout 2025-01-11 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, lovely, nearly regular enough to set one's watch to. Do we always arrive in those coffins? It's quite upsetting.
chimericalclaw: (a: must we?)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-11 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
The coffins were new. I arrived in a cage.

[Which would be more upsetting, he wonders? Hm.]

I was told that was just as unusual, though I can't say if previous groups experienced anything less exciting. One man I spoke to landed in a trash can with his arrival.
checkout: (batch_79)

[personal profile] checkout 2025-01-15 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, dreadful. I do think the trash can might take it, though. It seems so... pointed, rather than merely threatening.
chimericalclaw: (a: disdain)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-15 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
It almost makes me think something with an unpleasant sense of humor was involved. Admittedly, I would have taken the garbage over waking up several stories in the air.

[it might have made the whole blood thing a little more manageable—]
checkout: (batch_10)

[personal profile] checkout 2025-01-15 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Suspended cages? Good gracious. I should have appreciate my humble coffin more.

Does anyone ever contact us? Besides this one trying to get us to wake up, that is.
chimericalclaw: (a: lacking)

[personal profile] chimericalclaw 2025-01-15 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I imagine it was somewhat warmer.

[ha ha...]

Up to a certain point, an entity referred to as Jerry was the one to reprimand us for our supposed crimes, including meeting with those accused in person. For several months, however, he's apparently been unreachable, only appearing in dreams for that purpose.

Other than that, I can't say.
