OKCINDR POST #5

Ever wanted to have CR with a character and wasn't sure how to get them to cross paths? Wanted a dating app so you can hook up with hot people? Wanted to just find friends because you're a lonely bastard?

With the update of the tablets and the apps, we now have a dating / friendship app called OKCINDR! Players can use it as they please for the two months that it's up -- just imagine that they're profiles to swipe right on and everything. The idea is to encourage CR that may be difficult to get with characters who may or may not be interested in events / posts / logs / other network posts.

So, on January 2nd, characters randomly look back at their tablets to see the following:

This month, if players reset their profile, they will have a list of questions to answer:

- What is the maximum amount of sheep you have counted when trying to fall asleep?
- Is it harder to forgive yourself, or to forgive others?
- How strongly do you feel that the past defines a person?
- What is your dream?
- Why would an android's dream contain electric sheep? Are they particularly drawn to livestock animals?
- If you could return to one specific moment in your life, would you?
- How do you wake up from a dream?
- Please
- Wake up
- You must wake up

Players, of course, are able to ignore this message. However, if a character wouldn't fill it out but a player would like to participate... the profile mysteriously resets itself. There may even be responses sent from Character A to Character B without Character A actually doing anything, if you'd like! This is a completely opt-in scenario! But for players who would like to participate fill out the post:

A few things here and there, yeah. I didn't get to see it for myself, but the fact that something like that is there at all is...

Hm. I'm not sure if I'm hopeful, worried, suspicious, or all of them at the same time.

I still say we should of busted this simulation wide open when we had the chance. Now that my teammate can confirm when they stuck their hand thru it, they felt icy floors. So there oughta be no more "what if we die" higgedly-piggedly.

But I ain't callin the shots. Only talkin out my opinion.

I don't regret the decision I made before given what I knew at the time, but hearing about this I gotta admit you guys may have been onto something.

Well, I ain't tryin to toot my own horn here, but we X-Men built our own simulation in our mansion called the Danger Room. It's filled with programs and cycles of different villains, climates, and situations to help us train our stamina and enhance our powers.

We might have sum experience with what we're dealin with.

Hey, I'm not saying that you don't have experience, just that my world definitely doesn't (maybe?).

I know. Not every Earth is different. I didn't mean to come off ugly if I did just now. It's just...been hard to cope, I guess. But we gotta look on forward.

I wonderin what the next move is from here.

Figure out what caused the crack in the first place, maybe? It was around that thing with the moon, but I don't think it's a good idea to try and replicate anything close to that. For a lot of reasons.

I'm also curious to know what all these questions about sleep are for. Kind of a strange thing for something that doesn't sleep to be focused on.

Well, my powers came back swingin, so maybe I could give the air a bit of a touch. See how far I can fly up and see for myself.

I reckon it's a hint. Maybe we're all sleepin on the outside and they are tellin us to
wake on up? To get out? That makes the most sense from my mind.

It's worth a shot. Might as well try and figure out just what kind of place is on the outside while we can.

You think it's some voice from the outside getting through? The AI was reset, so it can't be the one saying it. Unless someone actually did manage to back it up?

Ain't no tellin, Sug. My teammates gotten stuck somewhat like this before. And the mastermind was someone who was just messin behind a computer screen. This could be that, could not be that. Not like we got much to go on.

Miller mention we aren't the only folks who've been thru this, and whatever path they did, they died from. We just gotta learn what they did when they tried to get out, and not follow along the same trail.

Behind a computer screen... Great. And we probably don't even have that, considering how much things were falling apart before.

So follow his path and avoid the mistakes made along the way... It was the kind of death you come back from, right? The ones that happen here rather than, you know, normal.

These things we're usin is close to a computer screen we got. But don't think whoever the mastermind is will be dumb to have these things be the key.

Except those before us never came back from the dead. They're long gone. So whatever they did, it was the big sleep for them.

So the normal sort of death then.

In that case, I hope it's easy to avoid or hard to replicate.

For what it's worth, if I could figure out how I got home earlier, I'd let you guys know. Wouldn't stop us from getting dragged back, but at least we'd have a way to walk out.

It'd be better if we could use this place as a restin area or a lobby station. That way we can go back to our Earths, come here if we
wanna see our loved ones whenever we liked, then head on home again. Or even visit theirs.

I wouldn't mind that. Get the chance to see where other people come from, maybe get a chance to see one of those "plane" things in person...

Got more than a few people back home who probably wouldn't mind seeing it either.

You live on an Earth without planes? How did yall get from one place to the next? Just use trains and boats?

Cars and trains, yeah. We used a bus. There are only a couple of districts close enough to the Great Lake for boats to be a good choice for getting around, to my knowledge?

But also there's only one City back home, unlike here. Aldrip's small compared to what I'm used to.

Who you tellin!! Aldrip is a peanut size when it comes to New York. Been here for a bit and I still ain't used to it.

But that's mighty strange that ya'll don't got any planes, tho. It's a lot a car, but longer and a lotta seats inside and everybody crammed in like mashed can of sardines.

Altius told me about them. Not about how tight they were, though. That part sounds... uncomfortable.

You're okay with it being filled up so much while you're all in the air like that?

Unless you're a rich folk, that is. First and business class, ya get all the fancy stuff and the legroom.

Well now that I can fly, I don't really need it. But I have piloted Blackbird from time to time. And it ain't so bad! It gets ya from where you wanna be faster than a train and boat. If fallin from the sky is what shiver your timbers, it don't happen as often as ya think.

Even in other worlds, some things never change.

It's more a combination of being so tightly packed *and* being so high up? I don't know why, but I feel like having room to walk around would help.

Haven't been on many trains or boats where you're allowed to walk around. Most of them wants ya to stay put when it's moving.

Less we talkin about subways but best stay away from them. Those are where all the fighting goes.

They are? This is the first I've heard of that being the case.

A lot of the homeless or those who are going thru real rough times mainly sleep on the subways. And they do tend to try and fight folks cuz they're a little unwell. It ain't much of a pretty sight.

[Aside from the word "homeless," which they can guess the meaning of even though they haven't heard it before now themselves...]

I hate to say it, but... that just sounds like most places back home. Not that I'm trying to downplay your experience or anything. It's just...

Sometimes I'm reminded how different my home is compared to everyone else's.
