But do you really think you're so special that you're stuck with some kind of curse? Those always have their exceptions - wouldn't it be far more satisfying to break those chains?

And here, you have the luxury of trying again and again. Death isn't permanent here, after all.

Soooo true, buddy! Everyone I like eventually passes before me, too! Whether it's by death or by betrayal, I am meant to never attain anything that I truly wish for. We should go and have a lovely and extravagant double suicide!

Except that wouldn't work here, would it? The only you could do then is to keep fighting, drag yourself through the mud. And wish that maybe you could use that miserable life of yours to save someone.
