OKCINDR POST #4

Ever wanted to have CR with a character and wasn't sure how to get them to cross paths? Wanted a dating app so you can hook up with hot people? Wanted to just find friends because you're a lonely bastard?

With the update of the tablets and the apps, we now have a dating / friendship app called OKCINDR! Players can use it as they please for the two months that it's up -- just imagine that they're profiles to swipe right on and everything. The idea is to encourage CR that may be difficult to get with characters who may or may not be interested in events / posts / logs / other network posts.

So, on November 3rd, characters randomly look back at their tablets to see the following:

OKCINDR PROFILE RESET #4
PLEASE RESET PROFILE

This month, if players reset their profile, they will have a list of questions to answer:

What is forgiveness?
Can a criminal ever really be forgiven?
should you be forgiven?
Is a crime ever justified?
How do you justify your crime?
Can you forgive someone who's wronged you?

Players, of course, are able to ignore this message. However, if a character wouldn't fill it out but a player would like to participate... the profile mysteriously resets itself. There may even be responses sent from Character A to Character B without Character A actually doing anything, if you'd like! This is a completely opt-in scenario! But for players who would like to participate fill out the post:

network profile
Character_Name
@username
ABOUT_ME

If you'd like to for shits and giggles, here's some notifications that may be used:

Name (@username) followed you

Name (@username) unfollowed you

Name (@username) blocked you

Have fun! Code credit.

[ no please nerd dump on him anytime you want... this is what he is here for, essentially. he doesn't care one whit about any inane chitchat. ]

... Yes. Neglect of the maintenance of this simulated environment does seem like a likely theory, based on what I have heard. Perhaps whoever set this up is no longer interested in its survival... or unable to be so.

It does not bode well, however. An abandoned project rarely thrives. Whether it means we are to suffer until its inevitable collapse, or whether it gives us a better chance of finding our way out of here... it is impossible to say, with the data available to us.

Given past experience, I would say the former is more likely than the latter. Even though this place was deteriorating at an incredibly high speed, it didn't reveal anything more than before.

Digging for clues as to how to get out of here is a real pain, let me tell you. I've already been kept from the things I really need to do for a year and a half now. And I can't say I have found any clue that feels vital yet. I only know a little bit more about the structure of this place than I used to all that time ago.

I see. That is... troubling.

So the security around whatever is the, hm, coded patterning beneath it all, the one that keeps this simulated reality running... it is hard to break, then. Whatever or whoever has created it must possess extraordinary power for it to persist, even after they are no longer actively maintaining it.

From what I have gathered, there are plenty of incredibly powerful sources of power of some kind across many worlds.

I don't imagine it would have been too difficult for whoever or whatever is behind it to get their hands on something like that. There are plenty of beings who exist even just in my world who could be capable of causing something like this, though I've pretty much ruled out this being their doing at this point.

Yes, the possibilities are infinite, are they not? Infinite worlds, after all. And if someone can bring whatever fractions of ourselves we are here, across time and space, it only stands to reason they would be able to reach across time and space for these sources of power, too.

None of it bodes well for us here.
entreats: (so you should just accept fabrications)

Basically.

I wish I could bring you somewhat better news, but I've given up on being optimistic after being here for a year and a half.
[ Please, Ange. You've never been optimistic.. Don't even try telling him that!! ] Are you any good with technology? Apparently there's some sort of AI running this place, but I'm no good with that stuff. It's beyond my time.

No, I would rather have the truth than prettily packaged lies.

And you could say that, yes. I've not worked with what you are describing, but I do understand the principles of it.
entreats: (because there's nothing left to say)

[personal profile] entreats 2025-01-03 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe you might be able to figure out more than I have then. There's a group of people more well-versed than me who are looking into it, in case you haven't met them. You should get in touch with them.

I'm sure they could use your help.

Yes, I have been told so. Caitlyn did her part advertising them well.

Perhaps I shall try.
entreats: (all this time; i wonder)

[personal profile] entreats 2025-01-06 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[ .. oh. ]

You talked with Caitlyn?

[ Yes, she isn't reading the other comments. Mostly because most of the comments on these dumb profiles are always so.. well, dumb. Not worth her time. ]

That's good. She's very helpful.

[personal profile] runeing 2025-01-06 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. I have known her over seven years, now.

[ surprise... ]
entreats: (i wouldn't even mind)

[personal profile] entreats 2025-01-08 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
So you're from the same world?

I feel like they've practically pulled enough people from that world now to populate this entire place. What is it about your world that's so weirdly attractive to whoever or whatever is running this place?
runeing: (( 33 ))

[personal profile] runeing 2025-01-08 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
When you find out, do tell me, I would love an answer as well.

Though I would argue there are far more from different variations of Earth. But the probability that all of us from Runeterra should be from the same timeline... astronomically small. If I should hypothesize something, it would be that the simulation expends less energy when drawing souls from the same world. Once it has latched onto one, it can pull in others with more efficiency.
entreats: (you stood for all that's true and honest)

[personal profile] entreats 2025-01-13 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
Change that to latched onto two, at the very least.

There are plenty of people here who are the only person from their specific world, after all. I've been here for a year and a half now, and I haven't seen a single sign of someone I actually know.
