OKCINDR POST #3
Ever wanted to have CR with a character and wasn't sure how to get them to cross paths? Wanted a dating app so you can hook up with hot people? Wanted to just find friends because you're a lonely bastard?
With the update of the tablets and the apps, we now have a dating / friendship app called OKCINDR! Players can use it as they please for the two months that it's up -- just imagine that they're profiles to swipe right on and everything. The idea is to encourage CR that may be difficult to get with characters who may or may not be interested in events / posts / logs / other network posts.
So, on September 3rd, characters randomly look back at their tablets to see the following:
This month, if players reset their profile, they will have a list of...questions...to answer:
Additionally, this month, misfires on the meme are much more likely, whether it's a character who wouldn't post their own profile, or comments on other top levels.
Players, of course, are able to ignore this message. However, if a character wouldn't fill it out but a player would like to participate... the profile mysteriously resets itself. There may even be responses sent from Character A to Character B without Character A actually doing anything, if you'd like! This is a completely opt-in scenario! But for players who would like to participate fill out the post:

You weren't here for the last time around that started all this. It took one of my academy-era pictures and plastered it all over a typically-ridiculous profile. Sure likes to sling a lot of mud for a sentience that could be ended with a well-placed cup of water.
[ This also begs the question of how it got the picture in the first place, but Jim's got fuck-all on that front.
The point is, Jim should probably let the people closest to them know what's going on, but the problem is he doesn't even know what to say. Or how he'd feel if someone didn't approve. ]

[ Pike is slightly surprised by how easy it is to fall into step with someone he hasn't known very long or very well. The last time he'd met a new Jim Kirk, he'd been the one the knowledge asymmetry favored; now the dynamic is reversed, and the knowledge gap substantially widened, but things are still pretty seamless. Maybe he sees shades of himself -- a kid who's eager to push boundaries, to take on the galaxy with both hands. Pike has been that kid. Granted, Pike had been that kid with a pack of Magic cards and a copy of Nicomachean Ethics in his messenger bag. But pushing boundaries looks like different things to different people. ]

[ Jim tries not to fall too deep into a rhythm with Pike - Chris, as Jim's been given leave to call him. It was never on the table, in his own universe - mostly because sir was a form of endearment by the time they became close enough to warrant it. It's a relationship he doesn't have with this iteration of Pike, but that doesn't mean it doesn't color Jim's responses, even when he tries his best not to let it. How could it not?
He likes this Pike, though. He likes how bright he is. Everyone from a prime or prime-adjacent universe just feels brighter to him, though that's a thought Jim keeps to himself most of the time. ]
While I appreciate that you think I could be so bold, it definitely was not. It did end up on the Academy network though, no matter how many times I deleted it.

[ Pike likes Jim, too. It probably helps that Jim’s a pretty charming guy, and it certainly helps that Spock seems to trust him. Given that Spock and Sam got on about as well as two wet cats in a burlap sack, that trust was likely hard-won.
Pike, of course, has no idea that Jim thinks of his as the “prime” timeline and Jim’s own as the “darkest” timeline. Though, given sufficient knowledge of the details, he’s not sure he’d be well-equipped to argue with it. Except to say that the timeline where Pike starts an endless war with the Romulan Star Empire might give it a run for its money. ]
I did know a guy who lost a bet and ended up doing his JAG student ID photo in a barrister’s wig. So it seemed like a possibility.

[ Jim has no idea what, if any, kind of relationship the Jim and Spock in Pike's universe might have. It's been made clear to him that Jim and Pike had a professional relationship that hasn't had a chance to extend much beyond the bounds of that (well, until now; but a shared living space tends to move mountains on that front pretty quickly) - and of course, Pike and Spock served together. Jim had never spoken much with his Spock on the subject - maybe generally, prior to Pike's passing. Afterwards, he was another subject that ended up off the table for the both of them. The list of things Jim doesn't talk about grew larger by the day, and it wasn't until Aldrip that he's been forced to take stock of it. ]

[ The joke does not come across via text, and Jim's ability to gauge people's ages has been horribly skewed by circumstance. Practically everyone he knows in the fleet is in their twenties (because everyone else, you know) or they're grizzled Admirals being assholes over subspace calls. Then you've got Spock, an actual 37 year old, and a decade seems like both so much time and none at all, really. He's just as ridiculous as Jim, yet when he first got here, he was still under the impression age brought wisdom.
Besides, Pike's always been grey, including now, as a young(er) man who still does his hair in the morning. Maybe he's been grey since he was 16. Jim would believe it. ]

[ Spock and Pike have been through some wild shit together, and given that most of it is heavily classified, Pike would not be surprised to learn that Jim wasn't aware of most of it. Spock was the one who requested Top Secret classification, too. Made a certain sense that he'd go out of his way to make talking about his feelings illegal. ]

They couldn’t possibly be less comfortable than they look. But I’ll have to take your word for it.
[ Pike would like it known that he is not old. He was actually a remarkably young Captain when he took command in his late 30s. Jim is just from an insane, upside-down, Spy Kids version of Starfleet. ]
I’m 50 this year, so 35 might be about twice as far from me as it is from you. Albeit in the other direction.
