Good afternoon,
If I may: what are some activities that those ages 14-18 enjoy engaging in here?
If you're in that age range, or have been in the past, what was a typical day like at home for you at that time?
Are you employed here? If so, what is it you do? Does it align with your skills and interests? Did you have any experience when you began it?
Thank you for any answers you can provide.

The works fine. The gambling addicts can be left alone. It's mostly people just there for a party or night out or whatever. They tend to hang at the bar more and gamble less.
Yeah I think a lot of people are taking the 'do shit I can't back home' approach. I probably do, too. Your age is 14-18, then?

Oh, yes, that makes sense. And you just [ ... ] talk to them?
I'm sixteen. 14-18 seemed to be a reasonably broad group to gather data from.

Sort of. Usually there's a lot more listening. But it's easy to tune out and do.
Ok so you're like the age of a first year in highschool. I'm [wait do dead people age. Uhhhhh-] either 18 or 19 here. Whichever.

I'm not familiar with the structure of schools, so I'll have to take your word for it.
Why 'either'?

Cooking club's alright. I mostly get to tell idiots that the type of oil actually does matter, and to set timers for themselves.
Cause time here and time back home don't always match up. I've passed a birthday here, i'm just not sure if it counts.
no subject
Why would it not? It's something that people typically celebrate, isn't it? Did you have the opportunity to do so here?
no subject
I guess most people do. It didn't seem that important to me. I could have if I wanted to, I guess.
no subject
I see. I suppose I'm not very familiar with birthday customs.
no subject
It's like any other custom: different depending on who and where you are. A lot of people go for a party with friends and cake. I learned how to do a pinata earlier this year for one. But then I did basically nothing for mine.

I guess there are a lot of decisions to make around one's birthday. [ pinata? one more word to look up. ]
It seems like life proceeds more or less as normal here.
no subject
You sound like you're thinking hard about that. Got one coming up?
And.... Yeah. It's weird, but what else is anyone supposed to do? I've been here almost a year, after all.
no subject
I suppose I just ask a lot of questions about a lot of things. [ people answer them here a lot more consistently than the professor ever has. ]
Pardon. It wasn't a complaint. I'm glad that there's a certain amount of mundane normalcy here.

[shinji you can't just ask if someone is an orphan???]
Between that and never knowing other kids sounds like you've had a weird life.
You should definitely join Scott's club then he's all over showing people how to do normal shit
no subject
It hasn't been typical, no. I must not be the only one, though, if Scott teaches other people these sorts of things.
