If I may: what are some activities that those ages 14-18 enjoy engaging in here?
If you're in that age range, or have been in the past, what was a typical day like at home for you at that time?

Are you employed here? If so, what is it you do? Does it align with your skills and interests? Did you have any experience when you began it?

No. I was encouraged to read, but only pre-approved educational literature.

we can stop by the library and see if there are books you might like to read
not just educational ones
fictional books can be enriching in other ways

Someone else has mentioned the horror genre, as science fiction and fantasy are too much like life here.

Still, that doesn't seem especially collaborative.

on the contrary
discussing a book people have mutually read can be very collaborative
but there are other things you can try

for example a young friend of mine has had me join him in watching fictional films
they are of varying quality but i enjoyed the time spent with him

as for me
i played plenty of card games back when i was a turk
