Salutations to all The Chosen of Aldrip,

My name is Richard Plantagenet, the Duke of Gloucester of England and the son of Duke of York. My time in this world may be merely a blink of an eye compared to some of you who have been residing here for over a full calendar year, experiencing the change of all four seasons under the sky. However, during my brief stay I have come to notice that there are plenty of wrongs in this world, which threatens the peace of our lives here. Now, some of these wrongs might be out of our control, such as the afflictions plaguing our environment. Or the activities of the council. However, this does not mean that we are completely powerless.

It has come to my attention that thee has been a several times when we have been faced with a violent threat and an attack, be it from monstrous creature from the depths of the ocean or a curse spreading among ourselves. I fully believe that we, as a community, could benefit from organizing ourselves so that we might be prepared when the next crisis arrives to our doorsteps.

I call forward anyone with any combat training, be it from military training, self-taught or magically oriented, and share their knowledge to those who might lack skills in self-defense. It is not in my intention to position myself as a leader, nor a raise an army, but to strengthen our teamwork and cooperation as a community. I am myself experienced knight who fought and served my king in a civil war known as War of Roses, and currently I'm learning the usage of firearms under the tutelage of Mr. Valentine. I am willing to train and pass down my knowledge to anyone who is willing to learn. However, I am aware that I am out of my depths and that many of you possesses abilities both as fighters and as tacticians that I could not even fathom. Which is why I sincerely hope those individuals to answer my call and step forward and help create a safer city.

Distrust seems to be common among our numbers.

[Damn.. Call out his entire plan, will you? That is very close to the ideal solution in Richard's mind but he's not going to admit it that easily.]

Something along those words. I have nothing to do with her group of people. However, I extended invitation to work together. It seems like she is not to keen on that cooperation.

Most people who arrive here are carrying personal traumas which likely won't make trust easy for them. Especially if their secrets could be laid bare by this place at any time.

[He knew what was happening here, given his own long history of doing very similar in his youth. He also was keen to see Richard in action, and he was not disappointed.]

You play a potent game, Richard. I can see why you are successful in your world. You are more experience organizing and rallying people than she does. I expect she believes you are impinging on her own movement and bleeding people away from her own cause.

All of us have our baggage. It is nothing new. However, what matters is how you assert yourself and whether you will keep moving forward or not.

I am flattered you think so. I am sure we both only have the best interest of this place in mind, correct?

That does seem to be her fear, yes. While I am not opposed to work with her, what I am trying to create here has nothing to do with her own cause and group of thieves.

Agreed. Our traumas provide us a unique set of skills, which should hopefully be employed in a productive way. Our pasts provide us the strength to do what must be done. In a sense, I suppose. Power for power's sake is pointless. Perhaps a lesson in working with others will come about from this. Or perhaps she will seek to destroy your attempts. No doubt she thinks you're stepping on my toes. She doesn't know about us by name, as I'm sure you've been able to deduce.

And yet so many seems to be held back by their demons. Well, I suppose it allows us to recognize the leaders from followers.

She may try if she so wishes to. I shall not cower nor budge for her.

No doubt because they fear that their active participation will lead them down a destructive path of which they have little control. This place perhaps makes them listless as they haven't invested in anything beyond survival. No, I don't suppose that you will. I don't make it a habit to intervene in her activities, but if she becomes unbearable in her attitude towards you, I can redirect her. Indeed. It is safest for both of us that way.

I have seen similar cases in past. After the war there were several soldiers who found themselves restless and aimless with no more fighting to be done. They could not adapt to the era of peace as the horrors of the battle had become part of their experienced normalcy. Most of them turned into bandits. While it might not be exactly the same with the people here, I do think they are just in need of proper guidance.

You mean to gather these wayward restless souls and aim in them in a productive direction then. It will be curious if you find success and achieve the necessary cooperation in such a diverse group. People need something to fight for.

With the Chosen it will be difficult to be able motivate and move everyone towards the same goal. The people come from what most fantastical worlds wielding the most imaginative powers and knowledge. However, it does seem that there are a couple who are more receptive than others.

Indeed. There are all manner of skills and abilities that are well beyond what you or I are capable of. However, they lack a direction to use those skills for the benefit of others. Perhaps gathering a few and finding successes will draw in more over time. A long-game as it were. She is very attached to me, and she fears a lover will steal me away. You are the first lover I have had since she came into my care, and Jinx does not share particularly well. I am not opposed to providing services; he did come lacking details, so I expect he will return for more instruction. And what compensation are you planning to provide?

Yes. Luckily it seems that there are a few ones who have already responded positively to the call of action. Hopefully their interest will remain solid and not falter.

Naturally. There is an art to keeping a flame ablaze. If you do not feed it enough, it will die down. But if you give it too much it will burst out of control. It is like you said, I have experience in this.

[Richard would very much like to ask what it exactly is that they have developed. But like always he finds himself short with words when it comes to these feelings, not wanting to give room for too much of hope. So he stays quiet, as usual.]

Be careful on such proclamations. This place has a habit of putting both deadly obstacles in front of you and pulling out all of your vulnerabilities for others to see. Perhaps it will unite you with purpose with those rallying with you.

When you say valuable, do you mean in a transactional way? I seek to understand the word choice.

[After all, many of his relationships were entirely transactional. They earned a different long-term reaction for him, and it wasn't how he currently viewed their interactions.]

You will learn with time and interaction. Believe me, each generation and each world seems to have their own manner of phrasing.

I expect that is so. Most seem to have endured some manner of personal hell unique to ourselves. It is best to guard yourself just in case but also expect such obstacles. There is much I have had to teach myself since arriving here, yes. Technology is advanced compared to what I'm used to, but most have been acceptable to deal with.

[He thankfully had Jinx to make a big dramatic deal over teaching him things, but taught him she did.]

[There is another pause before Richard responds, as he goes through Silco's answer.

Richard holds so many secret locked away deep into his soul. Things that he has done. Things that he is. A lot of them are part of them of that Hell he spoke just now about. But would he be able to share them with Silco? About his true title, what he and Buckingham had truly been doing. About Henry?]

Tell me about Zaun.

[Silco stared at the request which was completely away from their previous conversation. Zaun was, if nothing else, a point of pride for him. It was a safe topic, but perhaps it would also enlighten Richard as to why he was the way that he was.]

It is call the city of iron and glass. It is down river from our rulers, where we have been cast aside to be the catch-basin of the failures and filth of the golden city. We were originally founded first, mining and thus building deep into the underground, and the deeper one goes, the more poisonous the atmosphere becomes. We build from the scrapes tossed to us, and we fill our cities with innovation from Chem-tech, paint murals on buildings, rooftops and storefronts. Our people are an uncouth but eclectic rowdy lot, and we thrive based on few rules or oversite. Zaun is a nation yearning to be free, even though we are irrevocably tied to Piltover for as long as both cities stand.

[It is a safe topic, yes. But Richard is also genuinely curious as he has heard the name mentioned more than once by Silco and Jinx. The previous points have been making it clear that the difference between their worlds is like a day and night. And Richard does want to learn of these different backgrounds and understand them. He does want to understand Silco better.]

You are fighting to claim a land back that once belonged to you, formed by the hardships, tears, sweat and blood of your people. I understand.

When you say uncouth and eclectic rowdy lot.. What do you mean.

I am, yes. We have all been oppressed in Zaun, but it has instilled a strength they will never understand. For freedom, we must fight until they fear us so they release their grip. We were... so close, but it will come. In that, I have faith. The worst of the worst. Our people may be a community, but if you show weakness, they will eat you alive. Innovation is never stifled, but formal education is loose at best. We swear, we fight, we steal, and we make the disloyal disappear.

[There is another brief silence from him. As someone who fought a war against a false king who's reign had humiliated and stripped his father down from power Richard could very well understand the earn for freedom and desire to fight against the oppressor.

But then comes the second part. Richard had thought Zaun to be a city of demons, a place where monsters could thrive. But from that description it sounded nothing more like thieves den. He now could understand Jinx a little more.

However, the issue Richard finds himself from looking at is that his sympathies also lie with this 'Piltower.' Could place like Zaun truly thrive if its people were so barbaric? Or would it to just seek to spread its darkness until it destroyed itself and those around it? Nay. He could see why a place of light would want to keep Zaun under control and guide it.

But if there's something Richard has learned, it is not to speak his mind so freely.]

And once you've obtained the freedom? What comes next? Who will sit on the throne?
