here's your damn homework, council

[The Google slides link can also be found here!

FOR THOSE UNAWARE: Minato, Akechi, Rolo, and Shinjiro all received a group sentencing. It was to educate the chosen on why murder is unforgiveable. Please enjoy the fruits of their dubious labor.]

in that case welcome, dear "Chosen".
you'll come to realize soon that there are no standard laws that apply to us and that we aren't given same privileges as the actual citizens of this city, leaving us to be at the mercy of the whims of this "council".

So basically, we're like their lab rats. Great.

And I'm going to assume this council doesn't care if their methods aren't really helping anybody?

more or less, yes.

they do have methods of keeping us "in line" so to speak. but outside of that? I'd hardly say that they're truly succeeding in helping anyone.

How long has this been going on? I'd imagine there's more than a handful of people who aren't satisfied with what they have been doing, but it doesn't look like there are big movements against them.

it depends on what you mean by "this".
the sentencing started around last October or so, after some of us had been here for several months already.
however, there has been proof that we aren't the first "cycle" that has been here and that this process has been repeated several times before.

[personal profile] starringsecond 2024-07-05 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you know when the first cycle happened?

[personal profile] murderingjustice 2024-07-06 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
no. i'm not certain we even know the exact number of them.

So this has been around for that long, and they're powerful enough that nothing has been able to challenge their rule.

Guess it's not so bad if the worst they could make you do is schoolwork, but them having this much control over our lives is kinda pissing me off.

no. this 'punishment' is nothing but a joke. normally their given tasks tend to be much more harsher or require you to actually work for it. however, what is truly frightening is the penalty for failure.

[personal profile] starringsecond 2024-07-09 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not the judge here - but if your homework was supposed to convince us that murder is unforgivable...Good luck out there.

there is no efficient way to 'convince' anyone on the subject.
it either goes against ones beliefs or it doesn't.

Who knows? People can change, even if it would take a bit more than just a series of words or pictures.

there are plenty of manners to change people's cognitive perspective and to make one to realize the errors of his or hers ways.

although, I hardly think that the council will be accepting such intrusive methods.

What, like mind control?

[That's a highly specific example you have there, Akechi!]

That's a very slippery slope to stand on.

[personal profile] murderingjustice 2024-07-25 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
that is one method yes. i personally find it distasteful.

...There used to be this guy in my world. Everyone thought he was a good person - a war hero, even. You know what he did for the sake of his "righteousness"?

He kidnapped my friend and forced her to do terrible things against her will.

[Huh. That kind of sounds familiar to him.]

ah. classic case of those who would impose their so called 'kindness' upon us so ignorant ones by force.
starringsecond: (84.)

[personal profile] starringsecond 2024-08-11 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
If you'd call that kindness, then I'd hate to see what would be considered harsh in your world. Making someone a prisoner of their own will is cruelty, no matter how you look at it. Personally? I think it's a worse crime than murder.

[There's a visible sigh from the end of the phone. Maybe there was a time he would have considered such methods, but now he could never stop associating the act for what happened with Estelle.]

Magic is unreliable anyway. There's ways to dispel it, and I bet they would just go back to their scummy ways once it's undone. Better for them to face the law - and if the law is insufficient? You already know which methods I prefer.
