Ever wanted to have CR with a character and wasn't sure how to get them to cross paths? Wanted a dating app so you can hook up with hot people? Wanted to just find friends because you're a lonely bastard?

With the update of the tablets and the apps, we now have a dating / friendship app called OKCINDR! Players can use it as they please for the two months that it's up -- just imagine that they're profiles to swipe right on and everything. The idea is to encourage CR that may be difficult to get with characters who may or may not be interested in events / posts / logs / other network posts.

So, on July 2nd, characters randomly look back at their tablets to see the following:

This month, if players reset their profile, they will have a list of their choice of questions to answer:

- what is your favorite color, and why?
- describe your ideal date
- what's your favorite food, and are you able to cook it yourself?
- tell us about your very favorite hobby
- do you fear death?
- do you wake in the morning staring into the abyss, wondering if it stares back?
- what constitutes "life"? are you "alive?" how do you know if you are "living?"
- if you could be any animal, what would it be, and why?
- tell your favorite joke

Players, of course, are able to ignore this message. However, if a character wouldn't fill it out but a player would like to participate... the profile mysteriously resets itself. There may even be responses sent from Character A to Character B without Character A actually doing anything, if you'd like! This is a completely opt-in scenario! But for players who would like to participate fill out the post:

I mean, surely you've also noticed that the middle part of that group of questions got pretty wild. I imagine that's on purpose. Or they just developed some sort of program that's getting real existential when left by itself.

You know, one time someone ripped a hole into this reality to try and contact us. At first all we could see is an eye.

So sometimes the abyss does stare back.

Just in a less edgy 7th grade way, I suppose.

It was a weird situation. Some person tried talking to us, said they were like us before but that they got all messed up along the way. It was the typical case of someone trying to give a warning, but being so unspecific about it that it was honestly just very unhelpful.

Then they disappeared.

You know, that kind of thing.

It kind of seemed like the time to convey anything to us was limited, but you'd think they would at least start on the most important thing first.

The thing I'm currently trying to look into is whether we have been in this place before, either in the sense that our memories of it have been erased or in the sense that there might have been alternate versions of us here. There have been signs of that sort of thing being the case.

if they're erasing our memories, they'd have to have a mechanism of doing it. unless people are sneaking in when we're all asleep to shoot drugs into our arms, maybe the food...? i don't know how else they'd get everyone at once.

but uh, maybe i should ask for the signs first. what are the signs?

[ .. huh. There's something a little familiar about his way of thinking, Ange notices, though she can't place it right away. Especially when most of her mind is already moving on to what he's saying after it. ]

I found gravestones here before. They had people's names and cycle numbers on them. I got it confirmed by now that we're just the umpteenth cycle. They keep dragging groups of people here, go on until there's no Chosen left, and then it all restarts into the next cycle.

I tried asking something that seems tapped into whatever system is going on about it. They couldn't tell me what happened to the Chosen from previous cycles, and when I tried asking it if I or another version of me had been here before, it freaked out.

so whatever they're doing here isn't really about us and our "crimes," huh. sounds like that's just a cover for the real goal, which explains why the crime thing is total bullshit. and someone told me their crime changed? that's not how crime and punishment works.

i wonder if that thing you talked to gets its memories erased, too. you know, if that's what's happening.

are the gravestones still there?

I'm not sure. This town underwent a huge shift, it's practically an entirely different place now than it used to be back when I first came across those graves. They were at an abandoned house at the edge of town. Kind of looking like a haunted house. If it's still there, you can't miss it.

But yeah, the crime thing seems definitely like a cover up. Or if it was the original intention behind this place, then it's been twisted a long, long time ago. We're currently on the sixteenth cycle, and that thing told me that the previous one lasted a long time. The exact amount was glitched, but it started with 639 and ended in days, so it was at least pretty much two years, if not more.

Which means that at the very least this place has already been running the way it currently is for over 30 years, and likely even more than that.

i'll go poking around for a spirit halloween.

it's messing up, right? it could be that no one's behind the wheel anymore, outside of whatever this really is. you know, if it's just a program... hardware breaks down, and then weird shit starts happening. 30 years is a long time for anything to keep working smoothly.

if there's a way to prove definitively that we were here before and forgot... that's a good place to start.

There was some entity answering questions on this network before. It's likely part of the system. [ So it doesn't really prove or disprove whether there's still someone behind all of this.. That thing she spoke to definitely seemed more like it was part of all of this in general, rather than something behind it pulling the strings. ]

Maybe that could provide proof if you push the right buttons. The way I was trying to go down mostly led to corrupted data that didn't really help me. It could be that you'd have more luck talking to it, if it ever pops its head back up again.

[ He at least does seem to be taking this pretty seriously, so Ange has some faith that he won't just waste his time talking to it by asking stupid or useless questions.. ]
