Hey everyone, this is Jim Kirk. Welcome to Aldrip's shiny new Adopt-A-Pet app! These lovely puppers are looking for good homes; all adoptions will go through Kakashi. Please reach out to him if you have an interest in any of the dogs you see here. We'll update periodically as dogs are adopted/new dogs taken in; please @thecapn in the help tool to alert me if you notice anything glitching with the application itself.

[ Ange avoids his gaze as she says it - but Jim is true in thinking that Ange gets a lot of what he's saying here. It's why she doesn't protest it. It's very true to her own experience as well.
This feels like the only difference. Not that she envies him for it. Jim seems like he's a really nice guy, and he deserves to be on this side of it. He deserves a better life than what he's gotten. ]
I'm already dead. [ Ange looks at Bones instead, gently petting the dog again as she speaks. ] I was only revived to do one single thing before I'll die again.

[ Jim presumes, but it could very well be Aldrip. Either way, the news puts a new furrow in his brow, despite Jim's best attempts not to let it through. But, obviously, hearing that a child - let alone someone like Ange, who's already been through more than enough - is dead is not good news. Peter Parker is similar, with his genocidal alien problem back in his home world, and it's no less concerning.
Jim tilts his head, blue eyes clear, thoughtful as he contemplates her countenance. ] What do you mean by that? What do you have to do?

One that's important enough to her that she has to answer that first. ]
I have to try and find the truth of what happened to my family. And then expose that truth to the world. [ She did call it a mysterious incident, after all. It seems like even Ange herself doesn't know the truth behind said mysterious incident.. ] That's all I still want to do.

If there's anything I can do to help... [ There likely isn't, given the fact that they're stuck in this place, with no way of finding out any more about her situation and whatever is happening back in their respective homes, but Jim wouldn't be Jim if he didn't offer. ] Just say the word, and I'll be there.

[ It's not a total rejection, at least. Ange isn't shutting him out, or she would have been a whole more clear about it.
No, rather than her answer being some attempt at being avoidant or anything of the sort, it seems more like she just means those words. She genuinely doesn't know what he can do to help - and the helplessness she feels at the entire situation shows in her eyes, even though she isn't directly looking at Jim. ]
It's been so long already. It feels like there's no chance of finding out what really happened back home as long as I'm stuck here. It's not like we can just access information from our worlds.

You never know. Someone from your world could come through. [ It doesn't sound like there are many people Ange would want to see from home - at least, none she's mentioned so far - but there surely has to be someone who could help, who might have at least one of the puzzle pieces she needs. ] And I've noticed...sometimes it's more than just people, finding their way through. Some people have found objects, at the markets, or even outside their doors. If you keep looking, there's always a chance something might appear.

.. though he seems to suggest different. Ange glances over at him, though there's something a little worried in her gaze.
Like she doesn't want to give herself this hope from his words. Like she's too worried about it getting shot. ]
You think so? Even after all this time..?

Then she learns forward, burying her forehead - and face - temporarily against her knees. There's a slight pause as she stays like that, but then she mumbles from that position: ]
This place has mostly just been torture to me. I don't know how to withstand it anymore. [ It's so hard to latch onto that tiny bit of hope when reality is just so constantly overwhelming, after all. When it feels like the bad often outweighs the good.
Though her admitting as much out loud is already more than what she usually does - which is keeping all of that to herself, burying it where no one can see it. At least she's allowing him to see it at all. ]
