It's come to my attention that sentencing has begun again. To all those that are new here, or experiencing this for the first time, my name is Caitlyn Kiramman. I run a detective agency here in town, and would like to offer my services to anyone that might need them, given the circumstances. Whether it be for advice, as I've gone through sentencing myself, or just general aid in fulling the Council's requests, I'm available to be of assistance.

No devices will work inside, as far as I'm aware. An acquaintance of mine attempted to wear a wire inside, but nothing recorded.

Honestly? I really can't be sure. I attempted to get as much information out of Jerry when I met him, but he wasn't exactly forthcoming about anything of any value. I know I would have done the same when coming face to face with the Council, but I don't remember. Either way, I was given a task and a month to complete it.

Anybody try any iron or anything? They're fairies, right? Or that guy Ben is, anyway.

What was the task they gave you?

I'm not sure. Others have attempted to harm him, but nothing's worked as far as I'm aware.

[There's a slight pause, before she replies with the rest, mostly because she still has a lot of shame related to her own sentencing. Others refused their tasks so easily, but at the time, she felt like she had no choice.]

I had to bring two other Chosen in for their own sentencing. Rather than Jerry contacting them, I had to find them, and bring them to him myself.

And I'm guessing asking nicely hasn't worked so far yet either, huh.

[ He'd never admit his own crime on the network either, so don't worry about it, Cait. ]

They made you do their dirty work, turn in your own people. Makes sense as far as punishments go.

[ He pauses. ]

Does anything... change? For the people who go in and get sentenced? If the point is just to get us to incriminate ourselves, they could do that anywhere.

I tried talking to him. I asked him many questions when I met him, but he wasn't exactly forthcoming with any information. Claimed he was just a messenger.

[It was extremely frustrating at the time. Not having an answer to the many questions that plagued her since her arrival still bothered her, and she still wanted answers, but it quickly became obvious that Jerry and the Council weren't about to give out those answers themselves.]

Precisely. One was very guilty, and one was not. It wasn't an easy choice to make. I felt guilty, myself, for some time, but at least one of the two doesn't hold anything against me.

[Marianne was so kind, even after that. She went with Caitlyn willingly, without fuss. But Silco, on the other hand... Yeah, she didn't think he'd ever forgive her for that.]

The longer you go without completing the task, the worse you feel. Anxiety, stress. Sometimes hallucinations. It seems to be different for everyone, but everyone is physically impacted by not obeying. And if you don't comply, don't complete the task, there's a physical toll. Someone I know had their memories altered, another lost the use of their abilities. These were temporary, at least, but still impactful.

That's what he says, huh. He's just doing his job.

According to them we're all guilty though, aren't we? That's the first thing they give us when we show up here. A guilty verdict.

[ He hates that, but you know. Semantics are a lawyer's best friend. ]

I see. How "temporary" are we talking? They went away as soon as they went through with their punishment?

I should note, the person I said wasn't guilty was someone that has continually done good in our community, while the other is a known criminal, even in their own world. So that was more my opinion than fact. But given we arrive with crimes, yes. We're guilty, with no chance to plead out case, and sentenced without a trial or representation.

[She's...trying not to name names. She doesn't mind coming here and talking about her own experiences, but she doesn't want to drag Silco and Marianne into this publicly. And don't get her started about the fact that her crime is something she didn't even do.]

About a month, I would say? The Council gives you a month to complete the task for them, and the symptoms progress in that time, especially if you don't comply. The punishment for the person I knew lasted about a month after the deadline passed, as well. Since I completed my task, all the symptoms went away once it was resolved.
