It's come to my attention that sentencing has begun again. To all those that are new here, or experiencing this for the first time, my name is Caitlyn Kiramman. I run a detective agency here in town, and would like to offer my services to anyone that might need them, given the circumstances. Whether it be for advice, as I've gone through sentencing myself, or just general aid in fulling the Council's requests, I'm available to be of assistance.

I think they got a lot of us for sentencing this time

I would need to know the exact wording they used. The Council tends to be specific. If there's any wiggle room, you might can work around it, but it's hard to say without knowing exactly what they told you.

Man I have to find it again but it's something like

Everyone who was part of the fight that killed Gogol has to work together and explain to the rest of the chosen why you shouldn't murder or something.

Which is dumb as hell, the guy was attacking us after torturing Dara and hiding organs everywhere. Not my fault he started a fight when he can't take a hit

If that's the case, then I don't think it would be unreasonable to work out your answer by yourself. Especially if one of the others is resisting. But I doubt you'd be able to get out of it entirely. At least, not without facing the consequences of failing their demands.

It sounds more daunting than it actually was. I met Jerry outside the City Hall, he led me inside, and then I was leaving again, with no memory of the majority of what happened, just my instructions with how to proceed with my task. But the task itself varies person to person. Most of the time, it's dependent on the crime you're accused of on arrival, but it can be related to crimes you commit here, as well. If you fail to do so in the time allotted, they deal out some sort of punishment. I've seen someone have their memories messed with, while another was unable to use their abilities for a bit.

How often do they carry out sentencing? I'm guessing the penalty for not following the rules is some kind punishment.

Since they start sentencing, it's been every other month. One month, something within the town occurs, i.e., the tower that happened last month. Then the following month, new people start arriving concurrently with sentencing being doled out.

So new people show up, and sentences start getting carried out. Is that what Jerry does?

Seems like a lot of people got told to make friends this month. Not exactly what comes to mind when I think of sentencing.

Not to the new people, at least. But yes. That's correct. Jerry summons you to meet him at City Hall, and leads you inside to the Council. Once you're inside, though, no one really remembers much. I guess the Council doesn't want us remembering what they look like.

It's different for everyone. Depends on what their original crime was, or what crimes they might have committed since arriving here. You never know, making friends could be the worst thing imaginable, for some people.

[She thinks of Vi. If she was forced to be friendly to Silco, she would probably combust.]

[Honestly, when all the text crossing her tablet screen upon unlocking it, Caitlyn thinks something is wrong. She isn't exactly familiar with tech like this, and has only really learned since she arrived here, so it's strange and new and that worries her, but then it's gone almost as soon as it came, and she just blinks in surprise as the true message is revealed in it's wake.

The prevailing theory is that he resides inside City Hall, when not actively out sentencing people. I've watched him and the building itself for some time, and that's where he always goes back to when he does leave, which is very, *very* rarely.

So we meet the Council, but they take our memories. And I'm guessing there's no recording devices or anything allowed in there, either.

Do we know if the sentence depends on what we say there, or what? Generally when a plaintiff is convicted, they're allowed to plead their case.

No devices will work inside, as far as I'm aware. An acquaintance of mine attempted to wear a wire inside, but nothing recorded.

Honestly? I really can't be sure. I attempted to get as much information out of Jerry when I met him, but he wasn't exactly forthcoming about anything of any value. I know I would have done the same when coming face to face with the Council, but I don't remember. Either way, I was given a task and a month to complete it.

Not that I'm aware of. As I said, he only really comes out when it's time for sentencing. There's been a few people that refuse to come to City Hall in the time frame Jerry allows, so he leaves to retrieve them himself. In theory, if you went to City Hall, he *might* come out to speak with you, but I doubt it.

But, I might be able to send you his contact information on the network. The sentencing information comes via text, and he responds to it if you text him back. If you're that eager to speak to him, I can go back and try to find it and relay that to you.

May I ask why you're so interested in finding Jerry?

General problem solving seems a little outside of a detective's general purview. Pity that you didn't advertise your services earlier. I had an absolute devil of a time last month.

If you can divulge, what sort of cases are usually brought to you? Do you ever get cases from any of the local residents of this town, or is yours a Chosen-fueled affair?

I'm not sure. Others have attempted to harm him, but nothing's worked as far as I'm aware.

[There's a slight pause, before she replies with the rest, mostly because she still has a lot of shame related to her own sentencing. Others refused their tasks so easily, but at the time, she felt like she had no choice.]

I had to bring two other Chosen in for their own sentencing. Rather than Jerry contacting them, I had to find them, and bring them to him myself.

[There's a few minutes delay before a contact for "The Punisher" is shared with Jim.]

Did it come through? As I told you before, I'm not the best when it comes to these devices.

Oh. I'm sorry to hear that. I've never known Jerry to outright lie, but he definitely bends the truth to suit him. Is your friend doing alright?

No. I wasn't chosen this time. I just wanted to help, if I'm able.

[She doesn't blame Ange for being distrustful. Caitlyn could very well be doing this as her own sentencing request, after all. But no. It was simply out of the desire to help people. The amount of Chosen has been growing significantly lately, so there's a lot of new people, and possibly more being picked than ever before.]

[The double take she makes when she sees the username for what she thinks is the second time. It's only after taking a second look does she realize it's actually different, if only just slightly. Strange.]

I involve myself with what I deem important. While I do take run of the mill requests, anything involving Jerry and the Council is always on my radar.

[don't ask about the entire book of notes and tidbits she's been collecting in the entire year she's been there. she's recording everything.]
