04. Video; Now Presenting...

[conflictresolution]

[The video opens with Silco standing in front of an new establishment in the entertainment district. There is the sound of renovations coming from within, a pile of old debris and broken items off the side that will be repurposed. Still, the sign is lit up announcing the place.

Silco gestured with a hand at the new establishment, the corner of his mouth twitching in what might be his version of a smile.]

This is The Last Drop, a bar from my home in The Lanes. I have been blessed to have it brought here for all of you to enjoy with me. A little taste of my home called Zaun, and it is as rough as it is eclectic.

[He turned to look at the place as the sounds of hammering and saws continued inside. He didn't even seem annoyed at all.]

Apologies on the noise, but it's not in the state I previously left it due to a ruffian having a fight inside before it arrived here. It's unfortunate, but not unexpected given where it came from. Some people can't handle their liquor and emotions at the same time.

Anyway, The Last Drop will be open to serve the community of Aldrip in one week's time. I invite all of you to attend the grand opening. It will be quite the party.

[ ... actually, she does believe she is a tiny bit insane, but not to the extreme levels. ]

How is he gonna do that exactly, Sister? The "upgrade" made Aldrip the way it is now, not him.

[grappler]

[........ she opens her mouth, closes it.]

Yeah, well. You're the exception to the rule.

Because he keeps buying shit. Taking over businesses. Don't act like I don't notice it.

And what would you rather have, hm? The stores go out of business, and we hunt food the old fashion way?

— I've got guns, so killin' a pig or a raptor, and cooking them is kiddie play. But lemme tell ya, unless you were born and raised in Zaun, a lot of our Chosen "buddies" won't last a week without starving themselves.

[grappler]

The locals were doing just fine for a while there.

[she has a point, though.]

Some of them adapted when there was a food problem last year. Most of them are gone by now, though. Don't know about these guys we have now.

And that's because the locals aren't real. They're just cryptic codes made by the whoevers in this data glitchy world we call, "home". You can stab them and throw them in the ocean, and it won't matter. They're programmed to survive whatever the creators want them to do. — That's why I mess with them!!

[ is that a good thing or a bad thing? in one way, it means she's not terrorizing the chosen, but... she is still being a menace. ]

Exactly! Sooooooooooo??? Having someone who knows how to run stuff is a good thing. ... Or do you want to get eaten by a person? I may be crazy, but I draw the line on cannibalism.

[she huffs.]

Jerry would probably come after our asses for it.

[ if vi is dragging her hand down her face now, she will do it again as her little sister replies with a dramatic loud whisper: ]

[ she giggles merrily on the other line, and decides to take the conversation with a hint of my seriousness. ]

Jerry's a big pushover, anyway. He acts all big and bad 'cause he's made of steel. But you know what beats steel? Acid and water. We just need to get him wet!

[grappler]

[she shakes her head. well, at least it wasn't such a bad conversation after all. they were able to turn it... somewhere.]

You sure about that? How do you know people haven't already tried that?

[well.]

[opheliac]

Becaaause, dear sister, not everyone is smart like me! I'm a genius, remember? You do all the punch, punch, and I do all the pew, pew, kabloomie, clink, clank!

[ a beat. ]

— Hey, remember when we were fighting the Firelights side by side a loooooong time ago? Now that I'm thinking about it, we make a pretty good team, dontcha think?

[grappler]

[yeah. there's a memory of that... mostly of how terrified she'd been, seeing Jinx in a different light.

but she ignores all that. that'd just ruin the moment.]

Yeah, we kind of were. But I always knew we would be.

[opheliac]

Next time this town gets attacked by those squiddies, they won't know what hit them with the two of us, ha ha!!

[ she then remembers something: ]

— I got second place at your punching machine back home. But I bet now, I can totally beat your score.

[grappler]

Yeah? And what makes you say that?

[that's impressive, though. that she got so close to it.]

[opheliac]

Uh, because I'm better than you now? When was the last time you've punched a blockhead?

[grappler]

A couple days ago. I'm not about to let myself get rusty.

[opheliac]

Hey, that's not fair! You can punch people and get away with it. But whenever I mess with the nobodies, I get dragged in by the stuffies. — UUUGHHHH, the Council so have it out for me...!

[grappler]

Yeah, well. You do a whole bunch of other shit, too. Like steal... blow things up...

[she might be counting on her fingers now]

Whatever else you run around here doing, you get the picture.

And ladies and gentlemen, we call thoooooose..... hobbies. Just because Chomper number fifty-three likes to watch paint dry because it reminds him of the good old days when he ate paint and oil crayons with his sweetheart during a gala, doesn't mean I find it entertaining.

[ before vi could even compute that, she continues on: ]
