How many of you have heard of the idea that dreams mean something? As in, they're trying to tell you something important and aren't just bits of your day thrown out of order?

More importantly, how many of you actually believe that?

Sometimes I think they do mean something. You just have to sort out the meaning in an otherwise outlandish concept.

I keep dreaming of someone I've never met properly. Not strange on its own, but...

The part that concerns me is they always seem very badly hurt.

Do you know what hurt them? Or who they are, even if you've never met them?

I feel like I should know them, at least their name, but nothing actually comes to mind when I try to remember.

I can't quite tell what hurt them either, but it seemed like they were barely hanging on from whatever it was.

He was tall, strong, like the last person you would expect to be down for the count. Short cropped hair, a thick coat, and...tired. Less so from being injured, as if it had seeped into his bones somehow.

A soldier of some sort, maybe? Were you dreaming of any wars or anything?

I don't remember anyone else, but thinking on it now...there may have been some kind of explosion?

It could've been just a dream. Explosions just don't tend to happen around here.

Exactly. That's the explanation that makes most sense, but some also say they can be...prophetic, right?

Well, there might not be much concrete evidence of that sort of thing, but maybe it's worth considering regardless?

From a hypothetical perspective at least.

Maybe your subconscious has noticed something you consciously haven't? We're very good at picking up patterns without realizing it. Like faces.

now, how would the "prophetic" element play into it.

If your subconscious is seeing a pattern you don't, and plays out its logical conclusion--or something close to it--in your dreams, it could very well seem prophetic couldn't it?

Isn't deja vu only when you're awake?

Dreams can also show repressed desires or memories.

So long as it's something you've experienced, it shouldn't matter if the experience itself was r̷e̵a̴l̴ ̷o̸r̸ ̶n̸o̶t̴.

I think so? It certainly didn't seem like anything that could actually happen.

At least I would hope not.
