[Yu is frowning at his parchment when the video starts; he continues for a moment, turning the paper over in his hands, examining it closely, thoughtful and maybe a little...hm, bewildered. Concerned.
He puts it down when he realizes the video is ready to record.]
Has anyone had a change in the crime they were charged with, after they got here? If so, was there a catalyst, or did it seem random?
[... he hesitates for a second before adding,] For those it applies to: did the new charge seem more fitting, or less?
... Thanks.
[He turns it off there.]

[sounds. Unconfirtable.]
I'm guessing that happened to you?
no subject
[... hmm.]
Sort of. Both are technically true, I guess. But the first one couldn't really be classed as a crime.

[There's a pause as he thinks to himself. More things changing. Resetting. And Astralin had disappeared shortly after that, but-- maybe they were unrelated.
Clearly he doesn't care to share his thoughts, so after a moment there's the verbal equivalent of a shrug.]
What d'you mean, not classified as a crime? That's the whole point of it, right?

I arrived recently, but my parchment has not changed. It also reflects something that I truly did.
If yours was untrue before, that could be why it changed.

I didn't, either. It just looks like a normal piece of paper... I guess nothing is ever simple, around here.

[ more importantly, the hesitation in yu's voice is obvious enough - at least to vash, because he tacks on further: ] Are you okay?
no subject
Apparently they can.
[The question is unexpected, though. He pauses thoughtfully before he answers.] ... I'm alright. The timing on this could have been better, but -- it was more surprising than anything.

Less fitting. Like. 100%.

[So his changed, too... "Less fitting" is a bit concerning.]
So yours changed to something...more inaccurate?

[ .. right to the point, huh. That's Ange for you.. Even though she actually feels quite positively towards Yu, it's kind of hard to see it. Especially with the way both her tone and her expression are so netural as she speaks. ]
I tried asking that person about it, but he said that he couldn't think of a reason why it had been changed at that specific moment. It seemed totally random. [ Ange pauses, then releases a brief huff of air. ] If you ask me, of course that would be the case. Nothing that put us here truly cares about any real crime we've committed. They probably just think it's funny to throw people off like that.
video;
--well, except for the rest.]
I could see that being the case. A lot of what happens around here seems totally random.

[ Mitama lets out a small hum, tapping her cheek with her finger. She more or less assumed the charges are fixed, but if they can be changed on what she assumes must be the Council's whim, that really calls the whole point of this place into question. ]
... Forgive me if I'm being too forward in my assumptions, but I was under the impression you haven't been able to, ah, complete your sentencing in a manner that would satisfy the Council. It would make more sense if the changed occurred after successful repentance, but this...
[ She trails off, a thoughtful frown on her face. As carefree as she usually is, she would still like to have some logic in what's happening to them. ]
no subject
[But that just makes the rest of what Mitama says so important. Because-- how can he work on "repenting" for some other crime when he never did it for the first?]
You're right. In the eyes of the Council, I failed. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that part of it is strange.
[A wry half-smile makes its way into his expression. Call it a silver lining?]

[But he failed his sentencing, so the theory that it changed because he cleared that crime doesn't add up. Still, it's an interesting hypothesis.]

I noticed it recently. It's possible it's been that way for a while, but...I think I remember looking at it around December, when new people started arriving.
