video; a community poll
Hello again, everyone. I have something to ask you all.
If you were given the chance, what sort of questions would you ask of the Council? What sort of demands, if any, would you make of them? I will be gathering responses from everyone who replies and compiling them into a concise list which will hopefully be presented to the Council at a later date.
If you'd prefer to give your answer in person, I'll be making a rotation of the other-worlder housing area as well as the inn.
(ooc: For characters who can't/won't etc. answer a network post, William can be spoken to in-person! Feel free to assume he came knocking on the character's door or they can approach him at the new Church of Many Faiths he established earlier this month.
For players who are too busy to thread anything out, feel free to send me a PM with your character's answer. I understand we're heading into a busy/tiring month but it will be helpful to have as many IC answers as possible before the start of the new year!)

[ He considers for a bit. ]
I suppose rules like... "Don't murder others" and "don't steal from others" are the basic expectations of any society. It would be difficult to live in a community where that is permissible.

[Don't steal wasn't always a rule where he came from. Well, it was a rule but often ignored. Murder though was still mostly wrong, unless the victim was on the other side of the war. Or the gods wanted blood.]

I guess the basics? Don't kill each other, don't steal or take more than your share. Do what you're told to. Obey your superiors. Stuff like that.

Anyway, I suppose being a soldier would certainly give you a different perspective on what constitutes a crime. I've led other adventurers and warriors on dangerous expeditions before but it's not quite the same.

[At least he hopes some of the things the Bremens were rumored to do were crimes in the Eastern Union. But with the bunkers in Prehevil and the horror that went on within them he's not so sure.]

[ His smile is wry but understanding. ]
People will do terrible things when their lives or the lives of their loved ones are at stake.
cw: ritualistic sacrifice
[The festival was an aberration, but human sacrifice still happened sometimes in his world. It wasn't common, it wasn't talked about, but at least in Prehevil everyone knew it still happened. Or it did to his class of people. Sometimes he'd hear the rumors and wonder if the orphanage was just a farm of sorts.]
But it is true that people can do terrible things, especially if they think its them or whoever else. I've seen it, even outside of war.

You're right that some people do terrible things to one another, but that doesn't mean that it's permissible. It shouldn't be. That's why laws exist: they're something like an agreement that everyone abides by in order to maintain a functioning society.

R-right...but that's not really what we want to know here. We can assume things like murder or assault are against the rules, but what else?

[Because neither of those applied to certain groups in his world.]
no subject
Sorry. No, I suppose they might not. I just can't fathom a world where that would be freely allowed, I guess.

...I guess all that matters is what applies to us anyway.

[He's not optimistic about that.]
