Good evening everyone.
My name is Goro Akechi. Some of you might already know me, seeing this marks as the seventh month for me here in Aldrip. I have been collecting and documenting information about this world, all while pursuing the truth behind our presence here. But first things first:
But speaking of the Sentencing. Me and another individual, Osamu Dazai, have established a Law Consultation Agency to help those who have been picked to by the program. We both have worked as investigators and along with those who are dealing with law in our own worlds, so I believe our experience could help those who are stuck with these abrupt tasks set by the council. I'd appreciate if those who have had the run-in with Jerry or the Council were to approach us and share their experiences.
So far, they have been reluctant to give us any clear criminal code, which leads me to believe that there isn't one. Despite being granted a grand sounding title as The Chosen it is important to remember that we aren't citizens here, exactly. Meaning we don't enjoy the same privileges as the locals here. Whether that means we are merely prisoners or if there another reason for our presence here? That I don't know of. But at the moment all the signs indicate that we aren't the first group of 'Chosen' to have brought into this world.
If you have any further information or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out for me.

[Yeah... He can't really say anything without going tldr. So sorry.]

[TLDR: The Council, Sentencing, Legal Advise!]
I believe most of us were surprised by the sudden emergence of governmental power called 'The Council' and their lackey 'Jerry.' However, I do believe their arrival, along with this 'Sentencing' program matches the mood of the town ever since leaving the maze. We, the so-called Chosen, have been treated with suspicion and distrust. It could very well be that it is locals' reaction that summoned the authority figures. But speaking of the Sentencing. Are you guys trying to fight them in court or something?
[ Is that Ange's entire takeaway from this-- maybe. It's mostly the title of Law Consultation Agency, really, even if she does get a hint of what they're trying to do.
But the law part can't help but conjure that kind of mental image in her head. It doesn't help that at least one of the people involved is absolutely wildly ridiculous. Which means it totally could be meant that way. ]

I mean, it all just seems like a farce to me. Not what you two are doing [ Though, maybe a little what Dazai is doing.. you're lucky she considers you the more reasonable one here, Akechi ] but what they are doing.
I don't believe they actually want to punish us for any crimes at all.
no subject
what is your take on this situation, ange-san?
no subject
The first one I thought of is very much like the one you present. They want to show off, or they want to play with us somehow. Either to intimidate us, or just because they think putting us through that sentencing thing is fun.
The other option is that they really are bothered by the way some people are making a total mess of things here. I guess that wouldn't apply to everyone who's being forced to go through the sentencing thing, but I can't imagine they like watching some of us destroying buildings or whatever crap some of us do these days. It's like we're ruining their little catbox.

and as tempting it is to pin this all on The Council, there is no proof that they are behind of our presences here or the ones handing out the crime accusations.

[ ANGE...
Okay, but it's a bit of a dumb thing to say here, but she does mean it. That's why she's writing and sending it in the first place, after all. ]
It feels like yet another pain in the ass sort of thing for us to deal with here. It's like everything keeps going more and more downhill with time, the longer we're here.

Mind you, I'm not exactly saying the former is necessarily preferable. It's just a huge difference. [ And kind of a pain in the ass. ]

but it is important to remember that this is not our town. we don't have any rights here as citizens. so maybe it is like you said, that the locals are getting tired of us taking everything for granted and are finally reacting to our actions. that being said, the timing of it is suspicious.
honestly, i don't think this curve ball is anything new.

Are you that used to being disliked?
[ H-Harsh, Ange..
Though it's mostly just her being blunt, without any real malice behind the question. ]

I'm just calling this situation as I see it.

It's just your wording. "The locals are getting tired of us taking everything for granted." I can definitely think of some happy-go-lucky types who wouldn't assume such a thing. Some people are used to getting everything handed to them, or assume people will always be nice to them.
You don't.

well, it is true that there are a good amount of the people who expects to be treated with nothing but soft gloves on. they do end up being majority in most population, as well -- after all, it is the outcasts that tend to find themselves in the situation where they can't trust the others and their goodwill.
as for myself? I admit that due to my background I have had to work hard to get where I am in life.
no subject
Mostly because I think it's a good thing to know what sort of people we are all dealing with here.

cw: talk of (potential) murder
Nothing too long, but it's probably enough to be noticable to someone who pays attention. It's like Ange has to think for a moment about whether to admit to anything here before she sends her reply. ]
Everyone back home wanted to kill me, since I am the only thing standing between them and a huge pile of cash.
I know better than to not expect everyone has got some sort of ulterior motive.
no subject
although, I am surprised they didn't try to marry you off to secure a legal hold on the fortune. that is how I've seen it play myself.
no subject
I guess I got lucky that they didn't have any weird sons for me to marry. I'd rather swallow my own tongue.
Is it really that common?
no subject
unfortunately, the easiest way to get a woman under one's thumb is to chain her into a political marriage. at least in the society i come from, women don't hold much power when compared to men, who are more respected and seen as the superior gender. and through marriage they can ensure that woman's fortune will stay in their family as she keeps bearing children to their husbands.
it is very disgusting. i loathe the system that would use others as stepping stones for the glory and fortune. but that is the world.
no subject
In fact, you might just be among the very few intelligent men I've ever met. I'm pretty sure I could count them on one hand. Or even less than that.
[ And yet somehow women are treated worse, when Ange knows so many idiot men.. Make it make sense!! ]
