002 ✤ video
[ The video, hologram, or whatever you want to call it begins with Mitama standing in front of a building that may look unfamiliar to people who have been in Aldrip for a long time, obviously excited to be addressing everyone. ]
Why, hello there! Some of you may already know me, but for those who don't, my name is Mitama Yakumo and I'm a magical girl!
[ Just like that. Most, if not all girls of her world would never reveal their secret, least of all in such a flippant way, but Mitama is way past pretending she's a normal girl, especially when she's got important business related to her abilities. ]
Now, some of you may be wondering what a magical girl is... Allow me to demonstrate!
[ She presents a small, egg-shaped, blue gem to the camera, and as the object starts to shine, Mitama begins her transformation. You know the type ─ one with pretty choreography and fancy magical lights that conveniently help to keep any potential nudity to PG levels as parts of her costume pop into existence one after another. It might be a little shameless, but the girl is clearly having fun with it, and once she finishes, she's standing in her full magical girl attire. ]
As you can see, I'm the real deal! And today is your lucky day, as I am officially offering my humble services as the Coordinator to all of the Chosen! [ She winks at the camera. ] That's right! The Coordinator's Shop is open for business here in Aldrip!
[ She points to the building behind her, making sure to show the surrounding area too; now people who know Aldrip well will definitely realize it wasn't there until a little while ago. But Mitama doesn't waste time explaining that, and instead focuses on what truly matters: her work. ]
What is a Coordinator, you might ask? Well! My magic allows me to strengthen the abilities and enhance skills of other people~ That's right, I'm talking about you! Ever wished you could be more powerful, but you feel like you've reached the limit of your development? Would you like to tap into your hidden potential, but don't know how to do that? That's where the amazing Miss Coordinator comes in!
[ She twirls on the spot and bows to the camera to indicate the title means her. But before she continues, her expression changes for a moment, showing a bit of disbelief and concern. ]
"Oh, but wise and beautiful Miss Coordinator," I hear you say, "how do I know your powers of adjustment can help enhance my skills?"
[ The girl claps her hands together enthusiastically, not deterred by this potential doubt that some might voice in the slightest. ]
An excellent question, imaginary audience member and potential client! You see, in order to celebrate the opening of the shop, for the whole month of October, I will perform a simple screening session to determine how I can assist you completely for free! And that's not all! For the first week, that is until October 14th, all adjustment services will be offered at half the price! A chance like that might not happen ever again, so you better hurry up!
[ She leans forward, pretending she's hearing something from the charm, before continuing. ]
What's this? You're still hesitant to try it? Well, this won't do! How about this, then? The very first person who visits my shop today will receive a whole single adjustment session, free of charge! I'll see you there~
[ ooc: That's right, Mitama's Coordinator's Shop is now open for business! You can find all the relevant info in the linked post, but if you have any more questions on how it would work, feel free to contact me! If your character wishes to take advantage of her services, it can be done in this post, the linked post with more information or her inbox! Anywhere works, really. ]

Mmm, that sounds lovely~ [ However. Her smile turns a little wry, and she gives him an apologetic look. ] ... But, I'm afraid I can't join any sort of clubs. Nothing personal! It's just a part of being a Coordinator~
[ She knows she's being a hypocrite, hiding behind the whole "neutrality" thing when she's already broken that promise several times back home, but who knows? Maybe here, she won't be forced to pick a side. ]
Oh! But I'm sure I could arrange some kind of discount for your members~ How about that?
no subject
Why does being Coordinator prevent you from joining a club? It's not like we're aligned with a government or something lame like that.
[And then somewhat dryly:]
And aren't you already giving a bunch of discounts to everyone?
no subject
Oh, but those are just temporary, to celebrate the opening of the shop! I could think of something more permanent for your club's members~
[ She decides to address the easier part of his comment first. Now that that's out of the way, she needs to explain her situation, though she figures the best way to do it will be by omitting the more... disturbing implications behind how the world of magical girls operates. ]
Ah, you see, magical girls often end up fighting over territory... Having a Coordinator pick a side or join a group would give them an unfair advantage, so I'm obligated to remain neutral in all sorts of conflicts and provide my services to anyone, as long as they can pay the price.
[ She makes a pause, allowing for that to hopefully sink in. The girl then claps her hands, following it up with something that should give him a better idea of what she's talking about. ]
For example! Let's say a group of delinquents decides to harass one of the members of your club. Surely, as their friends, you would like to come to their aid and protect them, no?
no subject
[Guess he could mention Mitama's shop to club one day. What could go wrong with a bunch of powered teens wanting to become even stronger?? Nothing? Nothing.]
Why are magical girls fighting over territory? Sounds kind of weird. And hey, wait... [Scott slowly turns her words in his head and he makes a face at the camera.] What if they can't afford your services? Seems like a pretty big disadvantage.
[...] And yeah, I'd want to protect them, but my optic blasts tend to blast through most things anyway.
no subject
Mmm, how should I put it...? Magical girls fight over hunting territory... that is, the area where they hunt Witches. To put it simply, our survival depends on that. [ A beat. ] ... And for someone like me, who can't fight Witches, my survival depends on my clients' payment.
[ She explains all that with the unchanging smile still on her face, even if the topic is anything but happy. She makes a mental note of the power he mentions ─ "optic blasts", hmm? ─ but that can wait a little longer. ]
There you have it! But for me, that would create a conflict of interests, no? Since both sides could be my clients.
no subject
Which, still yikes, okay!! Scott's face scrunches, not sure what to do with all this or really say.]
I didn't know magical girl stuff was... messed up.
[being meguka is suffering etc]
I sort of get it, but... do you have to be a Coordinator in this world? You don't need payments to survive here.
no subject
I still kind of do, I'm afraid!
[ She chuckles a bit, but her smile turn a little wry as she admits that. ]
I need to find a way to replenish my magical energy. Gotta stock up resources for that!
[ To be perfectly honest, she's still not sure how to utilize them and/or whether she can actually discover a way to save herself in time, but it's worth a shot! ]
no subject
[It's not just some obvious hustle--
Scott visibly frowns because he didn't realize all that. Has she been slowly drained since arriving in this world? Even though he thinks she's kind of Weird and everything, he doesn't want her to decay and get all fucked up. Maybe he should tell the club about all this.
Although, wait a second...]
Wait, what kind of payment are you taking for this?
1/2
Your soul!
2/2
[ Is... is she?? It's kind of hard to tell with her sometimes. But after letting out a small chuckle, Mitama speaks up again and this time she appears to take the matters far more seriously, even though there's still a smile on her face. ]
Normally, I would only accept Grief Seeds ─ that is, items that allow me to replenish my magical energy. I don't think they can be found in this world, however, so I'll be expanding the available payment methods! Money, favors, interesting trinkets or collecting ingredients I could use to create magical items... I'm open to ideas!
no subject
[The pitch in his voice has increased and he looks ready to ask more questions about this but oh, she's joking. Maybe?? Scott opens his mouth to say something else, but he soon closes it because it's for the best, really. He'll just... assume that she's fully messing with him.
She's probably not evil and taking souls of people usually count, especially if it's in exchange for power]
Money and those other things don't replenish your magical energy, right? [Sorry Mitama, he's just a little confused about why she needs this shop in particular to get regular money and stuff.]
no subject
They don't, but they will help with the research for sure!
[ Well. She says that, though in reality, she doesn't have high hopes of accomplishing anything. Kyubey's system is, for the most part, impeccable, so she's having a hard time imagining she can actually find a way around hunting Witches for Grief Seeds. While her smile remains unchanged, the girl lets out a small sigh, cupping her cheek with her hand. ]
... I was hoping I could use those resources to ask the locals for cooperation, too, though with the recent events, I suppose that's no longer a possibility...
[ Considering Aldrip's residents' recent change of attitude towards the Chosen... she's probably out of luck in that department. ]
no subject
Scott still doesn't fully Get It, but maybe it's time to just leave this alone, at least when it comes to asking her about payments. It's what she wants to do and uh, cool. Yeah.]
Yeah, they've really been complete dicks lately. Not sure what recently crawled up their asses... [It definitely sucks though, getting a cold shoulder and everything for no apparent reason. It's like if he blasted their dog or something.] Maybe you can ask the other Chosen that specialize in magic.
no subject
[ Mitama lets out a sigh. It's been such a huge change in such a short span of time, she finds the situation really baffling. Not that she's not used to being ignored at best and being treated with disdain and hostility at worst, but she liked it better when she wasn't being reminded of it at every step of the way. ]
Ah, yes! We do have a rather interesting assortment of powers and abilities here, so I'll be sure to make the most of our cooperation~
no subject
[Adults are normally like that, right? Just giving up on students-- kids if they start to get too troublesome. He wonders if Professor McCoy or Xavier will ever feel that way about him, like if he can't ever get his powers under control. He's not sure, but for once, he hopes that they don't expel him.]
Well, good luck, Mitama. I'll at least mention your shop the next time I meet with the club.
no subject
[ She nods, giving him a reassuring smile. Does she actually believe their actions, no matter how positive, could influence and change the locals' opinions on the Chosen? Hell no; she knows better than anyone it doesn't matter what one does, only what other perceive them as. But the Coordinator cannot be all doom and gloom, so she chooses to end it on a more positive note. ]
Why, thank you! I hope to see your club members stopping by soon~
