[Silco's voice was smooth and business-like. There was definitely a hint of confidence as well.]

With the increase of Aldrip citizens leaving their businesses unattended for an unknown amount of time and our Tresed attempting to assist, they have accepted my offer to manage the financial and general operation of a handful. Until the lost Aldrip citizens return or a confirmed to not be returning, I am asking for assistance from the Chosen.

I'd like to offer any who is willing a job. You will be paid for your time, of course. Shift time and dates can be negotiated. I also have no age restrictions; everyone at any age can have talents for customer service as it were, or they can be educated.

And once the addition to the house is complete, you too can have more space for your own occupation.

( it'll take a little time for his message to travel to jinx. in fact, he can hear this toy mechanically walking away from the device for a small moment. it would be a lot easier if she would just be at her tablet to have an actual conversation. but there are two reasons to why she isn't and why she is doing it this way.

one, this wind-up monkey friend is her new project and she is testing its kinks. how far can it go until the wind-up key stops? does the walk cycle move like it should? is the recording function of the monkey audible enough? lot of questions that needs to be answering.

two, she's busy -- to put it simply. now that the maze fiasco is over with and her body is back its regular self, jinx feels she can tackle down her tinkering again. and boy, she is so low on chompers! so after a bit, mechanical noises return with a voice: )

My business will be a classic junkyard! Gimme your scraps and tra-a-a-a-ash!

( whoops! it seems the monkey malfunctioned just a little bit there. )

[Silco was working on organizing meager paperwork and other notes for a business that he had been handed with enthusiasm to manage. He was perfectly willing to wait for the new toy of hers to find her and provide the message that he had left for her.

He made a noise in his throat at the response, flipping a piece of paper over to read the back.]

You'll need more land for a scrap yard, but that can easily be acquired at the going rate, it seems. Provide me a list of what you would require if you're serious about that.

( more time passes. it seems jinx discovered an issue in the monkey. but that's alright since they're both into their work -- like father, like daughter these two.

so the monkey returns only this time besides the mechanical rattle, someone is somewhat stomping in the room with it. definitely jinx to see her toy do its thing and how it's operating. )

Roger that! Testing, testing. One, two. Nuts, bolts, springs, wheels, belts, pulleys.

( when that stops, jinx clicks her tongue at the roof of her mouth. )

[They had worked in each other's spaces and done their own thing while also maintaining a conversation many times in the past. He had his charm nearby and was listening to the sounds coming from it from Jinx's end of things]

Uh-huh! I don't have a name for him yet. ( more jittering noises of her lifting up the wind-up toy, inspecting it closely. )

But he's gonna be our lil' butler around here. He'll take messages, be our alarm system, and maybe I can program him to answer the door if we have company.

( it might be a stretch to have the toy do all of those tasks, but a girl can dream. and who knows? with some of the people being mystical creatures or have magic in their bones, maybe she can get them to enchant her toy somehow. )

Our current house is rather small, though with the new addition under way, it will have multi-levels soon.

[Normally, he would have some big hulking guard in his employ to open the door or at least weed through the visitors. He was going to have to fill that gap, and as good as Jinx's gadgets were, they didn't quite have the same intimidation factor that he previously enjoyed.]

( the surprise in her tone is really glaring as she stares down at the videoless recording of her tablet. she decides to plop herself down on the floor, giving a glance at her monkey toy still in her hand then back at her tablet. )

Gee, I've always thought I was too noisy or messy when I worked. And it, I dunno, bothered you when you worked.

Yes, I've commissioned an extra addition to act as a workshop for you. It isn't perfect and it isn't a permanent solution, but it's the best I could do given the current circumstances.

Considering I will be managing many business for the time being, I will set up an office in one of them for much of my current work.

( while yes she is like a cat that comes and goes whenever she felt like it, on the days she wants to sleep or nap at home -- jinx would hope he would be there too. after all, nights are still a struggle with her. she tends to be more at ease with the haunted when someone else is nearby than on her own some days. )

Hardly. This currently isn't enough work to keep me more than a handful of hours in a day. I will be home when you need me.

Besides, there were still plenty of places to explore and learn about this place, so he couldn't simply invest his time in businesses. ( how silly. a doctor doesn't tell their patients what time they're suppose to be home, but at this point it's better to not question how jinx's mind operates even when she is being goofy on purpose.

giggling, silco can hear her winding up her monkey toy once more and it rattles once it's activated again. it doesn't speak this time because she isn't hitting the record button, but it's alive nevertheless. )

[He made an amused humming sound in his throat, knowing it might have come in play but it was a concern of hers. That was a reasonable time to finish up given the current work load that seemed to be present. He could also work from home should it become necessary.]

Are you going to hire help? You should establish where you're putting it first.

( that's probably the best thing to do, she thinks. if she is going to run a business like her dad, she needs to find a place first. and is there a place in aldrip that has just a wide open space with nothing? maybe a little outside of the town in the fields... )

( because overtime, the trash will pile up and grow which will be her dream. she can picture a mountain of steel and who knows what else as far as the eye can see. and jinx will never be short in supplies for her inventions ever again. )

That would be the best choice. Close enough to be easily accessible by those that will need your services but far enough to not directly impede the growth of the town.

[Because Aldrip was going to grow, especially as more and more people washed up. Already, building was happening at an accelerated rate to meet the needs of the Chosen and the natives. Jinx setting up her little junkyard would be beneficial to those that valued recycling and making something out of very little.

Besides, she could have a workshop built underneath, hidden from view where she could horde her bombs and munitions.]

( the hell is this trash? disturbing the peace? she hasn't done a thing around here beyond blowing up one building and killing a few monsters. that's MINOR compared what she had done back home. what a load of phooey.)

( what will silco ever do with random scrap metal? one will never know when one might need it. if nothing else, a sharp steel piece would come in handy for a knife replacement. )

No one can ever criticize you for being overly dramatic.

[This was what he had to live with raising a mentally unstable explosives expert. Maybe a few more rules would have helped, but she had learned to defend herself quickly and that's what mattered. The dramatics were an acceptable by-product.]

Considering you'll be building things for me, you can choose what leftovers would be best used for my endeavors.
