001 💥 (VIDEO) ⇁ CHARM
( so the holographic video begins with a close up of a girl biting her lower lip. the recording is wavering from side to side as if she's trying to do, well, something.)
Just a seeec...
( the girl says with more motion-sickness for the viewer. but she manages to get the mobile device propped up just right so she can be hands free. jinx grins big at her accomplishment while she scoots back in her seat, cross-legged. by the looks of her surroundings, she is somewhere up high, due to there being a lot of sky around her. and given the tiles she is sitting on, it's best bet she is on a roof -- possibly on the Inn's (and using the chimney to keep the device up). although everything seems to be squared away, she stays quiet -- just staring back with a smile so wide it could split her face in two. but then — )
So!
( jinx starts off as she digs in her pockets, then pulls out a pretty blue gemstone in which she carelessly tosses up in the air. )
What's everyone's crime?
( when she catches the gem with grace, jinx pops it straight in her mouth like it's a piece of candy. and as she sloshes it inside behind her lips, the girl looks up in thought -- talking with her mouth full no less. )
I got stuck with murder and illegal trading. So boring.
( rolling her eyes, jinx spits the gem out that's now filled with so much of her saliva (how disgusting), then resumes back to playing a game of catch with it. )
Sheesh, you'd think blowin' up a few buildings and starting a war would count WAY more. Whoever is in charge reeaaallly needs to fix their rating system.

No, I was not. Though many of our people are quite well-learned, you see.
[A pause as he tries to get his words together. Less challenging ones this time.]
Well then. Care to explain how you started a war, of all things? Since you were so eager to mention it out loud earlier.
no subject
( that still doesn't give him much information, but a little taste than nothing. because who knows if this stranger is trustworthy. he is an ex-government guy and jinx already has... an opinion for that sort of people in command. )
no subject
...Ah. I think I see what you mean, now.
[No wonder she's been so reluctant to talk to him ever since he revealed what he does. It doesn't explain who "Fishbones" is, but it does explain why she's been so evasive.]
Well, it isn't my duty to string you up for a crime I know so little of, not when I stand accused myself. And I don't doubt you have plenty of people on your trail already trying to right the chaos you've created, besides. Like your sister, perhaps?
[That one's a stab in the dark. He could be on the wrong track, but the inkling he's gotten tells him he might not be, either.]

Hey, do you know if these things can play music? Or... I dunno, is there a place we can find recorders or somethin'?
( the girl puckers up her lips in thought as she glances down to a few locals and chosen from down below. )
I think I could whip up a gramophone in a snap, but what goes it without tunes?
no subject
I assume that a gramophone is a device similar to an orchestrion, as they are called on Etheirys. I'm sure someone who's been here longer would know better than I. Or one of the locals, perhaps. Barring that, I'm sure they have some means of creating music, but you may have to be prepared to do things the old-fashioned way.
no subject
( if she isn't creating weapons or jamming to music, she is using her windpipes whether people want to hear it or not. )
no subject
[And still don't, in some cases. On the other hand... maybe he shouldn't encourage her. He crosses his arms and shakes his head.]
I have a feeling if I tell you not to sing for us from the rooftops, you're going to do it anyway.

( the teen leans over to grab the mobile device, the camera wavering around as she plops herself to lie on her back. he gets a bird's eye view of her now -- her arm sticking straight up to keep the thing there. she drums her fingers over her midriff, not to any rhythm in particular. )
For a prison, it's wicked boring and it's puttin' me to sleep.
no subject
[The way she says it makes it sound as if she's been in prisons before... not that that would be a surprise by now. He doesn't seem as if he's about to put up resistance, though, just shakes his head with a sigh.]
Well, there is no reason for me to try and stop you, at least right now. Much though I would appreciate the peace being kept, if everyone in here is a criminal of some kind, then there will be enough chaos to contend with ere long.
no subject
( that last bit she drags it out into a little singing like tone. )
— I'm givin' this place a month to "wow" me. if it doesn't? ... Guess I'll have to cook up something to make it more... fun for us!
no subject
...But for the time being, he'll let it slide. What else can he do?]
Well, I'll leave you to it. We're likely to meet again, for better or for worse, so while I'll not hold you to it, I'll be sure to take notice if something happens. I don't doubt you'll be claiming the credit.
[Strange girl. Very strange.]
