So, can the witch in charge come out yet?

[ It's a simple statement, and for a moment it does sound like the message might just cut off there. Just that one flat statement, seemingly devoid of any emotion aside from a vague hint of annoyance.

But then there's a sound that's faintly like a step, then a grumble, and then the message continues anyway. Still mostly deadpan, but a little more annoyed this time. ]

Sure, I get it. The whole crime and punishment theming? Very cute. Maybe start using that talent to build an amusement park or something more productive next time, if this sort of thing is your hobby. Either way, it's really not done to let yourself be heard on the way in, and then just act like you're not there.

[ A slight pause-- and then a sigh. ]

Just tell me someone can point me to the witch. I really don't have time to be beating around the bush.

Um... well actually yes, I have. Dealt with witches, I mean. Six- well, seven of them. [The twins acted as one person.] They put a curse on me and my friends. But I mean, that's not like... COMMON! Ghosts and spirits or trickster spirits are more likely than a witch.

.. I see.

[ People should probably take this sort of information in with a bit more surprise, given how ridiculous it sounds, especially all at once, but Ange's tone still makes her sound relatively unflappable.

Really, why should she be surprised by it anyway when even this other girl is talking about it relatively casually? Clearly this is a totally normal conversation, right. ]

I guess it's right that it's not typically common for most people. Witches usually tend to be in charge of other supernatural beings though. Or they end up being the ones behind something people perceived as a ghost story all along. [ In Ange's experience, anyway.

Which makes it very hard to believe this isn't some sort of weird witch shenanigan all over again. ]

[Admittedly, Usagi and the girls CALLED Beryl a witch... and she also called Nehellenia a witch... But did they count as witches? The Witches 5 actually CALLED themselves witches.] How do you know if someone is a witch? Like, is anyone who can use magic a witch oooor? Cause I only knew about the other witches cause they literally called themselves that.

And where I'm from ghosts and spirits are real, my friends have even gotten possessed. But there wasn't any witch involved with those.

Well, no witch I've ever met was particularly shy about announcing themselves. [ Other than Featherine, but.. that was more purposeful, like she was waiting for Ange to figure it out herself.

As a general rule though? Ange is pretty sure most witches are very obvious about the fact they're witches. More like the ones Usagi is mentioning as well there.

It doesn't feel like the most important point to her though. Whether something is a witch or not-- well, it could be important under some circumstances, but when she's trying to figure out this situation first and foremost?

It means a different thought entirely comes to her. ]

Do you think we all come from different places?

[ Worlds, Ange would say, familiar enough with the term. But she doesn't want to make this too complicated on someone who might not necessarily know about that stuff. ]

Are... all witches bad? There could be good witches here, right?

Oh, absolutely! Some people haven't even heard of Earth, never mind Japan. Haven't you met someone who hasn't even HEARD of Earth?

[ The witches question is.. a little complicated, honestly. If not just because the pouty, still-trapped-in-puberty part of Ange kind of wants to deny the idea of a good witch, even though she knows it's possible..

So she shoves that aside from a moment, focusing on the other part of this. She doesn't sound surprised when she pipes up, but-- ]

No, I hadn't asked.

[ She hasn't met too many people yet, and she's been way too busy asking different questions first.. But she does assume it's entirely possible there are alternate worlds out there that don't even have an Earth. ]

I'm guessing you have heard of both Earth and Japan though, if you're mentioning them in the first place. [ Especially when Ange herself hasn't even said yet she herself is from Japan too! So this girl is from there as well? What a coincidence, out of all possible worlds. ]

You haven't asked a witch if they're good or not or you haven't asked if there are good witches? Still, I'm sure there are! Can't have only bad of one thing, right? Who knows, maybe there are good witches here.

Not just heard, I'm from! Both! Japan and Earth! Though I wonder if there is a whole planet that calls itself Japan, wouldn't that be funny? But anyway, some people haven't heard that at all! And I always like to ask where people might be from and like, my geography sucks but I DO know if someone says a planet name that isn't Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, or Nemesis!

Hold on, Usagi. Ange is trying with absolutely all her might to summon what little knowledge she has retained from the classes at school she didn't really pay all that much attention to. But even though she isn't sure - maybe she just missed it back in school because she was spacing out, it wouldn't surprise her - there's still something that stands out to her. ]

Nemesis?

[ That one. ]

I'm pretty sure I've heard of all those other planets, but not that one.

[ Thankfully Pluto at least still is a planet in Ange's time.. ]

Oh! Yeah, Nemesis is the tenth planet but it won't be discovered until the 30th century cause it basically can't be picked up by like imagining and stuff cause of how far out there it is plus it acts like a black hole with light!

.. oh.

[ Well, that sure takes away any and all surprise Ange might have had. If anything, there's something almost comical in the sheer confidence Usagi says that with, as if it doesn't sound incredibly strange to someone coming from Ange's sort of world.

Then again, she has enough recent experience with weird things that this one slides right off her. She just accepts it. Sure, some 30th century discovered planet. ]

Guess I'm a little behind then. I'm only from 1998. [ And that's even aside from the potential difference in worlds.. ]

Oh! I'm only from the 1990s too! [~~Vague Sailor Moon timeline is vague.~~]

You sure are up to date with 30th century trends for someone who's living in the 1990s.

[ Just saying, Usagi! Of course Ange isn't going to pass up on any opportunity out there to make a deadpan remark..

Even if she has some ideas as to how that could be the case. ]

Are you a time traveller or something? [ Look, that wouldn't even be the strangest thing she has encountered over the past while, both back home and here so far. ]

Oh, no, not me, like, not really? But some aliens from the tenth planet in the future traveled back in time trying to destroy the queen before she ever became queen.

They failed, miserably, I might add, but they had these weird robot things pretend to be students at one of my best friend's schools and even showed up on TV as "mediums who could seeee the future~" [The Black Family clan were definitely an ODD bunch.]

.. sounds like the place you come from has been dealing with a lot. [ Granted, it definitely sounds like it's more than just a lot. It's not like most places out there deal with.. you know, aliens.. and time travel.. and robot replacements of people..

But Ange is nothing if not queen of understatements. ]

Must have been pretty strange for you to see all of that happen. I mean, most people only see that kind of stuff in movies.

Mnn, and that was just one of the alien invasions! We've had loads! And a demon from the sun who was sealed up in the north pole and tried to take over Earth. That one was when I was 14, the aliens from the future were when I was 15.

Well, yes... but thankfully they were destroyed and stopped and Earth is safe again. [Maybe... probably? She was dead but so was every other Senshi... but also the monsters and others only SHOWED UP because Usagi and the others had awoken. The first 14 years of her life had been absolutely quiet.] But I mean, you just casually mention witches, so we all get used to weird real fast, right?

[ Usagi. Usagi, what is your world, even? If the other girl were to next say that the city also suffered a Godzilla attack between all of that, Ange would honestly believe it..

[ Ange is pretty sure this is what her world sounds like if she were to try and explain it to anyone at all. Stones and glass houses, and all that. ]

I guess the more surprising part is that you can be so cheerful about it. [ Maybe since it all ended well, like Usagi is saying. ] You've sure got to have some spirit.

[ After all, Ange went through a lot too, but.. she's like this. It completely destroyed her spirits. Being cheerful about it? She can't even imagine it, honestly. ]

Oh! Well, I can handle anything so long as I have my friends and family beside me! And while my family isn't here, I'm already making lots of friends! That's why I can handle things!

I'm not going to give up hope about things just cause I'm in a weird situation.

[ Ah, see, this is what it always comes down to in the end.

Ange truly not being able to understand these kinds of people. Especially when she hasn't made even a single non-imaginary friend in her entire life.. ]

Well, I guess? I'd like to think they're at least acquaintances. We can be friends too, if you want!

[ There's definitely a slight pause on Ange's end, though she's careful to try to not let her surprise seep through into either her expression or her tone. It takes effort, though, hence the pause where she has to make that effort in the first place before she speaks on. ]

You sure make friends quickly. I've never heard about anyone becoming friends at that speed.

Well, we're only friends if you say yes, Ange-chan. And besides, what's wrong with making friends with someone quickly? You seem really interesting!

[ God, the sheer amount of answers Ange could give to a question like what's wrong with making friends with someone so quickly.. ]

[ Her voice isn't quite as sharp anymore though. Instead something else sneaks in, something faintly more uncertain than her flat tone until now. ]

Some people just pretend to want to be friends with you, so they can stab you in the back later. [ Most people are like that in Ange's experience, in fact. Hence why she's so reluctant and unsure about all of this. ]

... Why would I stab you in the back? For one thing, that's not nice, but like, I guess if that isn't enough? There would be nothing to gain FROM stabbing you in the back? You have nothing I want or can do anything I need, Ange-chan.

But if you mean I might get stabbed in the back... [She shrugged.] I mean... the worst thing that could happen DID happen, and trust me, she was very upfront about it all.

And yet you're still like this?

[ Granted, Usagi is presenting two options here. But of course Ange is going to ignore the first one, because she would love to pretend that what she just said wasn't about vulnerability on her end at all. If Usagi is giving her an easier option, then of course Ange is going to focus on that one instead, ignoring the rest. ]

Of course.

For all the people who try to hurt me, there are way more people who hold out their hand to help me up again afterward. And I want to be that for other people, too.

Besides, the people who hurt me, that's a them problem, not something wrong with me, ya know?
