001 (text, then video)

we're playing two truths and a lie. if you've never played, it's a game where you say three things: two that are true, one that isn't, and everyone tries to guess which one's the lie.

if you wanna go hard mode, do it with the camera on.

[ the "camera" comes on a moment later to Reno's grinning face. ]

I'll go first!

One: I've got a license for just about anything that flies, and I'm a certified flight instructor.
Two: I've had the same job since I was twenty-two.
Three: I don't have a favorite color.

[ His poker face is immaculate; there are no tells, just his smirk and his unflinching eye contact with the camera. Good luck with your guess. ]

( this is an open post, so feel free to threadjack and play this silly game amongst yourselves. i only provide drunken party entertainment here apparently. )

[Brb, holding back a snort.]

Ah. I see how it is now. Considering your emotional response just now, three is probably not the lie. And if you suffer from multiple personality disorder, then it's possible your different personalities have different handedness.

Which means... two is the lie, isn't it?

[It seems he's not taking your rant about society very seriously, Akechi. Sorry.]

[Likewise, he's rolling his eyes.]

You're so dramatic. [Akechi please.]

is your personality not a sum of multiple different sides, conscious and repressed. Or are you truly just so called "one note guy"?

As for that: did you know that you can train your both hands to work equally? Again, something that was pushed on other people.

[Now the kettle is retaliating and calling the pot black? Wow.]

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I can't help you with whatever urges or feelings you've been repressing. I'm not a therapist, much less a trained one. But as far as I'm concerned, your brain's physiology can have a significant impact on your personality, too. What we call "personality" is not something shaped simply by conscious and repressed thoughts and memories.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying being ambidextrous isn't a good thing. I mean, you never know when you might lose a hand. Or even an entire arm.

of course not. psychology has its role to play when it comes to developing a person. the shape and structure are active factors when it comes to neurological issues and whatnot. however, the environment is an important actor as well and should not be ignored. I'm certain those who work in the field of the psychoanalysis would agree.

I suppose you're right. Although that would be unfortunate turn of events.

Heh. You don't even need to work in the field of the psychoanalysis to agree that the environment is an "important actor", as you put it.

[Just thinking back to when he killed his first human victim. Saito still remembers it clearly... and sometimes even wonders if he'd be any different had he not done it. To him, that is the most obvious example of how environment and experiences also play a major role in shaping an individual, together with genetics.]

How did your environment help you build your second personality, I wonder? Assuming that is one of the two truths, of course.

Who knows. First you'd have to come to realize what the second personality is for. If that is the case, of course.

I remember reading studies about the individuals who had formed a 'side personality' to protect the core from something bad and traumatic. Trustfully speaking, I'd loathe being someone as weak as that.

For a hypothetical truth, it seems you've done a lot of research... and reflecting on it.

[The passive-aggressive wording also makes it sound the subject of split personality isn't just true, but actually a sore subject.]

Also, you're not really being fair here. I guessed that two... [A short pause as he checks what it said again—] that you being a synesthete is the lie out of the three, but you never confirmed or denied it.

Maybe I'm just well-read. Someone with my profession needs to be educated on various topics.

[But he's right. Akechi isn't playing by the rules now.]

Well, I might as well admit that you're correct. But you're far away from the truth as one can be.

sorry for the lateness! feel free to drop if too late

[Profession? All the dramatic talk of split personalities and such only made Akechi seem an edgy teenager still in high school.]

And what would that profession of yours be?

[That last comment does pique his curiosity, but given how this person seems to enjoy beating around the bush, he doesn't suppose he'll get a straight answer. Especially over text, where it's easy to hide any trace of emotion whatsoever. What a little coward.]

I used to work with the police forces as a freelance detective.

[Funny, add the split personality tidbit in, and that background starts sounding rather familiar. Although the amnesiac part is missing. It would be even funnier if this person's profession as a detective working with the police ends up being just a cover-up story for an assassin (a.k.a. serial killer), too.]

How did your "second personality" like that job?

[Oh, if Saito only knew..]

just fine actually! it's all me, after all.
