001 (text, then video)

we're playing two truths and a lie. if you've never played, it's a game where you say three things: two that are true, one that isn't, and everyone tries to guess which one's the lie.

if you wanna go hard mode, do it with the camera on.

[ the "camera" comes on a moment later to Reno's grinning face. ]

I'll go first!

One: I've got a license for just about anything that flies, and I'm a certified flight instructor.
Two: I've had the same job since I was twenty-two.
Three: I don't have a favorite color.

[ His poker face is immaculate; there are no tells, just his smirk and his unflinching eye contact with the camera. Good luck with your guess. ]

( this is an open post, so feel free to threadjack and play this silly game amongst yourselves. i only provide drunken party entertainment here apparently. )

[... ... ... How the hell--

Akechi won't be able to see it, but that does slow Noel's stream of cocky responses just a bit.]

Yeah, well. Guess I've had other stuff to worry about.

[This is just how he'd read himself, tbh.]

but one of them is a lie, correct?

Hmm.. I'm going to say that the pet one is untrue. You probably had a pet of sorts when growing up, or at least wanted one.

You got it. Good guess. I managed to keep it for a whole afternoon before I got caught and had to let it go.

I think that means it's your turn.

[for a moment he even considers throwing his words right back at him, seeing that they more or less apply to himself as well. but that would be projecting!]

1. I have won a video game tournament.
2. I'm a master shooter.
3. I can recite complicated texts out of memory.

Before I take a guess, I'm gonna need you to tell me what a "video game" is.

[Like sure he knows what a "video" is and what a "game" is, but--]

ah, of course. my bad.

are you familiar with the concept of a computer?

I am, more or less. Machines that store and show information, right?

Precisely.

Computers have, however, evolved quite drastically and become more smart and capable. A video game is a digital game that can be played on them. You could say that they're simulated virtual realities which requires interaction with the user and provide visual feedback based on their actions.

The game I'm referring here is a shooting game. The computer screen displays different digital marks that can take any shape or form and you need to shoot them with a controller. They tend to get more challenging the better you grow, which has led different organizations to hold competitions and tournaments to test the skills of the players.

I see. Sounds sort of like some kind of...training simulator, or something? And people do this stuff often enough that they have tournaments where you're from? Must be pretty serious about wanting to get good at things like that.

something like that, yes.

although it's more for entertainment purposes rather than actual training.
oracledriven: (calm; think it through)

[personal profile] oracledriven 2023-05-24 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Entertainment? Really?

[Man, people are weird.]

Alright, let me take a guess at your three. I'm gonna say the second one's the lie. Being good at something in a game doesn't make you a master of it.

wrong.

I have never taken a part to any video game tournaments, in fact I've only played such games once or twice.

I should've known it'd be that one.

You sure know a lot about something you hardly even do.

it's basic knowledge in my world. like I said video games are entertainment and practically everywhere.
