Two: I've had the same job since I was twenty-two.

I've only heard about black chocobos. I don't think I've ever seen one. But the pink isn't so far off from red, which isn't too hard.

I can't keep chocobos by the church, so I have someone else take of him. Otherwise, he absolutely would eat the flowers and we can't have that. I'd like a farm, though. Then I could have all the flowers I want and chocobos and anything else my heart desires.

Maybe a small airship too!

I think... I'd like to go on an airship and go far away. See the world. Meet lots of new people. Learn about them. I'd like that.

What do you want to do after everything is taken care of? Would you and Tifa just stay in Midgar?

I don't know what Tifa would do... Probably stay in the city, yeah. She seems to like it.

Don't really know what I would do. I don't think that far ahead. Probably... travel and work, not really staying anywhere in particular.

It's not a bad thing to think a future that you might want for yourself. Good to work towards something. Maybe you should come with me.

It's not a bad thing I just... I don't know. It's hard to picture it.

Pretty sure you don't need another chocobo on your farm, anyway. Not that I would eat your flowers.

Welllllll, I wouldn't have to train you. Because I already have.

It's just a nice little thought. Travelling the world. Planting flowers. Working. Making a difference. Learning about other towns and people. It sounds nice! More fun to travel with others than alone.

Yeah? Trained me? ( he sounds amused. ) What's my favorite trick of yours? Sit, shake, lie down?

If it makes you happy, I'll come with you. After all, I'd be a pretty crappy bodyguard if I just gave up now.

It would definitely make me happy. Meeting you and the others has also made me really happy. Turns out I'm a pretty easy girl to please.

Who knew it'd be that easy? And here people are bringing you flowers all the time.

What a shocker, right? Although I don't know that I'm brought flowers all the time... Definitely more here than I was back home. I actually thought you brought me those flowers from Mizuki originally until I saw what they were.

I guess it's easy to bring me flowers because I'm going to love them no matter what they are.

Oh, that's who they're from... I wondered.

I do...I mean. I...Well. It's not important, anyway. They're very pretty, those flowers.

I wasn't expecting them, so it was a nice surprise. I'm not sure what I did to get them either, but I won't turn them down either.

Could it be that you wanted them? I asked Mizuki if I could share them with you. She did say that I had to make you earn them, though.

No, nothing like that. It's... I was going to... get you some.

Not the cut kind. The...dirt...kind. Whatever, bulbs or whatever.

Mizuki seems to be really fond of you. She talked about you to me a bit.

You were going to get me flowers...? [Excuse her. She's delighted.] Bulbs would be perfect.

And... Oh. Did she now? I like her a lot, too. She kind of feels like... a sister? Sort of? I want to protect her. But maybe I just want to protect everyone I care about.

[mercedis]

A sister... Got it. I kind of had a different feeling. ( there's some humor in his voice. ) Like... 'what are your intentions with my Aerith' kind of...feeling.

( there's something that sounds distinctly like a laughing huff of breath. )

Anyway. I'll let you know once I have your bulbs. I've seen some flowers out in the forest that are interesting.

[There's a pause for some moments and Aerith starts laughing. He's probably teasing her. Although...]

Ohhh, maybe she's very protective of me? That could be. I can't put my finger on it, but I think she went through something very serious. I think she takes her bonds with people just as serious. Guess you better treat me real well. She could beat you up.

[Probably. Although maybe she wouldn't. It seems they're friends.]

I would love that. Will you help me plant them? I've been wanting to plant some. Kind of like the church. In a place where they won't be disturbed.

Yeah, I think 'protective' is putting it lightly... I'm glad, though. She seems like a good kid. ( a soft breath, like he's about to say something else and changes his mind-- ) ...Promise I won't give her a reason to beat me up.

Somewhere they won't be disturbed... Hmm. I feel like we can find a place like that. It shouldn't be too hard, anyway.
