OKCINDR POST #5

Ever wanted to have CR with a character and wasn't sure how to get them to cross paths? Wanted a dating app so you can hook up with hot people? Wanted to just find friends because you're a lonely bastard?

With the update of the tablets and the apps, we now have a dating / friendship app called OKCINDR! Players can use it as they please for the two months that it's up -- just imagine that they're profiles to swipe right on and everything. The idea is to encourage CR that may be difficult to get with characters who may or may not be interested in events / posts / logs / other network posts.

So, on January 2nd, characters randomly look back at their tablets to see the following:

OKCINDR PROFILE RESET #4
PLEASE RESET PROFILE

This month, if players reset their profile, they will have a list of questions to answer:

- What is the maximum amount of sheep you have counted when trying to fall asleep?
- Is it harder to forgive yourself, or to forgive others?
- How strongly do you feel that the past defines a person?
- What is your dream?
- Why would an android's dream contain electric sheep? Are they particularly drawn to livestock animals?
- If you could return to one specific moment in your life, would you?
- How do you wake up from a dream?
- Please
- Wake up
- You must wake up

Players, of course, are able to ignore this message. However, if a character wouldn't fill it out but a player would like to participate... the profile mysteriously resets itself. There may even be responses sent from Character A to Character B without Character A actually doing anything, if you'd like! This is a completely opt-in scenario! But for players who would like to participate fill out the post:

network profile
Character_Name
@username
ABOUT_ME

If you'd like to for shits and giggles, here's some notifications that may be used:

Name (@username) followed you

Name (@username) unfollowed you

Name (@username) blocked you

Have fun! Code credit.

Morrigan
@Witch
Apostate shape-shifter, daughter to the immortal Flemeth, Witch of the Wilds, occult advisor to Empress Celene, friend of the Inquisition. Called power-hungry by some, a cruel witch by others, Morrigan is more a socially-awkward woman raised in the wilds among animals, with the manners to show for it. In desperate need of friends beyond wild animals, ancient ruins, and her son.

so what's your favourite animal to shapeshift into

or do you do items too, like a coffee pot

or a slingshot

[ he's...... gonna get to the whole witch thing later, this is just gauging, is she cool or is she the type of witch who eats children, yes that's a literal type of witch he has met on occasions, ]

A crow. The freedom and maneuverability of flight is something no other animal can replicate.

For battle, I'm quite fond of the giant spider, however.

[thankfully morrigan is not a cannibal and doesn't need to sacrifice children to stay young and beautiful, she's just got GREAT genes for that

[ of course it's a bloody crow. sorry he's met one (1) shapeshifting crow and he was a little bitch, ]

well, aside from, like, all other birds

a giant spider, huh? i mean, yeah, effective in a fight, can't argue that

[ looking at you, hell-spider. why is this witch lady hitting both of these things at once. surely there are other animals than crows and spiders out there — ]

[personal profile] elfsplaining 2025-01-02 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Look it's fine. Morrigan is ALSO a bitch.]

Crows are more intelligent than the average bird.

But I also fight as a bear, or a wolf, or a swarm of insects. I'm fond of a cat form as well.

If I studied any creature long enough I could become them.

Not objects, however. What would one even do as an object? I couldn't move on my own then.

[ is it though........ ]

depends on the crow [ sorry monty — ]

bloody hell, that's a lot of forms. that your main form of... witchery?

and hey, don't knock the object idea, you could do plenty of stuff with that! like an ambush, or hide from pursuers by turning into a twig on the ground. or if you're working together with people and you need to, dunno, break into a house and you don't have a lockpick, except ta-da, you can turn into one! real convenient, that

Where I'm from we are called mages, and there are many different schools of it. I can use the general ones of fire and electricity, entropy spells, creating barriers and the like. But I have taught myself others as well, such as the shape changing. That one is known only to me and a few others, as far as I am aware.

'Tis not "Chantry approved" use of magic, so few wish to learn and even fewer can actually learn.

If I need to hide from pursuers, I can simply become a mouse or a bird and fly away. A stationary object can hardly defend itself, so what recourse would I have against someone stepping on the twig, or breaking the lockpick?

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-01-03 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
huh, sounds pretty aces, all you can do. where i come from, there's different types of magic, too, but usually they require some kind of enchantment, you know, with spells or runes or stuff like that

and right, okay, we're tabling the inanimate object thing, got it.

so chantry, that's like... witch council?
elfsplaining: (gCo4rtL)

[personal profile] elfsplaining 2025-01-04 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, we have enchantments and runes as well, but those are typically handled by the dwarves. They are the only ones who can do such things safely.

[She actually laughs out loud at the idea of the chantry being a 'witch council.']

No. The Chantry are self-righteous fools who believe their god to be the only one that matters and therefore everyone else must care as well, or be done away with. According to their Chant of Light: Magic exists to serve man, never to rule him.

Therefore, mages are locked away in their prisons--Called 'Circles'--to learn and to never be seen in society again, lest they begin to think terribly unnatural things, like perhaps that they have rights or would like fresh air.

The Circle is a leash on the throats of all mages within it, held in the unyielding hand of the Chantry. They learn to fear their abilities rather than embrace them. Which leads to accidents of possession and Abominations, which the Chantry's Templars then cut down and are used to further push the idea the mages are dangerous.

[personal profile] incorrigibles 2025-01-04 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
huh. so how does your magic work, then? you just... do it? is it like, an internal force you channel?

[ and then, after reading that whole description, ]

fucking hell. that's horrible, innit? but mages are crazy powerful, yeah? why do they agree to the circle thing, instead of just going off on their own

is it like a brainwashing thing, you know, being told you're one thing so long you don't know there's other options out there

[ Usually Ange doesn't particularly care very much for these profiles, but at least there's something here she's interested in. And it seems inoffensive enough compared to the other generated stuff, on top of that. ]

What does being a witch mean where you come from?
elfsplaining: (zKki6E5)

un: Witch

[personal profile] elfsplaining 2025-01-02 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Tis simply a word used by simple-minded fools.

I am a mage, as is anyone who is born with the ability to do magic. But I do not belong to a Circle, so I am an apostate. 'Witch' is just meant to be an insult, I suppose, though I do not know why I would be insulted.
entreats: (i heard an unhappy ending)

[personal profile] entreats 2025-01-03 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that makes sense. I've heard of it being used in an insulting way in the past where I come from as well.

But as far as I know, in my current reality it just means someone who can do magic. I don't think I've ever heard the word 'mage' being used in that context before. It's kind of interesting, how in one world it's the definition of someone with magic, and in the other only meant in an insulting way.
elfsplaining: (c84a6IT)

[personal profile] elfsplaining 2025-01-04 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
What context have you heard 'mage' used in, then?

[She's curious, despite herself. Mages and magic have a terrible reputation back home in most places, especially in the South, so it's interesting to hear about other worlds where it existed]
entreats: (fathers don't know all the rules)

[personal profile] entreats 2025-01-05 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
It's not really a word that's used where I come from.

When it is used, it's only in old-timey sort of contexts. You know, like in fantasy movies about wizards, stuff like that. My crazy grandfather might have called himself something like that.

[ Never mind the fact that those are two wildly different contexts.. Morrigan would get it if she knew Kinzo, really. Even though no one should know that man ever. ]

hi!!! I saw you put witch as another name for you, and it made me happy, so I did too! but I had to make it different, so I made it pancakewitch, which I hope is okay!

Can we be friends? I don't know many witches

[personal profile] elfsplaining 2025-01-04 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
[oh no who has lost An Child (she assumes, judging solely on the typing). Morrigan feels half-inclined to try and shoo the girl away, and half-inclined to indulge her.

It is kind of cute, she supposes.
]

Tis of no consequence to me, since magic does not seem to be as vilified here as it could be.

You are also a witch?

[ Off screen Abigail is so excited, she can't believe she might be able to meet a real witch other than Medea or Circe! That said, Abby also feels a little worried reading what she read - she hopes that the other didn't have to deal with Witch Hunts... A topic she would rather avoid...

After a short moment, and calming down some. Abby decides that she can also open up about being a witch for now. Well, more openly then her implying. ]

Oh, I am very grateful about that too, and yes, I am! I am still learning, though!

Ah, that explains why I had to write something. It wasn't letting me look at anything else until I did.

[ And she'd rather, for now, not give a device she's never used before some kind of autonomy to write about her life. ]
