network text; un: ryojikun, a day or two after the 18th!

Hello everyone, my name is Ryoji Mochizuki.

Some of you must have been left bewildered or affected by the past week. I am here to apologize, because I am the one responsible for what has happened. A man named Bonedrewd did something, and as a result I ended up losing control of my powers. Please, be careful around him — he is a dangerous man. I only wish I realized it sooner.

I really am sorry!

The result is the long night known to those from my world as the ‘Dark Hour’. You might have encountered someone who looks like you during that time. They manifested from a repressed side to ourselves. They are parts that we are ashamed of showing to others, or secrets we don’t want to tell. Please do not be harsh to them — do not be harsh to yourself — as it is only natural for all humans to have such a facet to their personalities.

If anyone has questions, I will do my best to answer them.

That sounds like a plausible explanation. Though why the system designed for our "rehabilitation" would even possess the ability to mimic such powers and environments, I cannot tell.

I don't intend to press you for any sensitive or personal details, but knowing that could potentially help us prevent another incident if that is indeed how it happened...

Yes, of course; I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring back painful memories.

[ Even so, he's given her more than enough to go on. Someone's powers going haywire is bound to have an effect on the environment, so that part is perfectly reasonable if you ask her. It's a different part of that statement that gives her a pause. ]

Pardon me for asking, but when you say "Death", do you mean... the very concept of mortality itself?

Oh! No, that's quite alright ♥ In fact, I would say your presence here is rather reassuring! After all, if you think about it, Death is the only real friend people can count on to be there for them until the very end, isn't it?

... Though I suppose in this world, we can't even count on that, considering death doesn't seem to be final.

... I wonder if a person who was filled with curses while they were still alive has any chance of a peaceful death, too...

[ It's a brief moment of wishful thinking on her part, as she figures no such luxury is granted the girls who had become Witches before getting killed. ]

Yes, that's true. Many find that reality disturbing, but I believe the inevitability of the end is what gives everything that happens its meaning.
