network text; un: ryojikun, a day or two after the 18th!
Hello everyone, my name is Ryoji Mochizuki.
Some of you must have been left bewildered or affected by the past week. I am here to apologize, because I am the one responsible for what has happened. A man named Bonedrewd did something, and as a result I ended up losing control of my powers. Please, be careful around him — he is a dangerous man. I only wish I realized it sooner.
I really am sorry!
The result is the long night known to those from my world as the ‘Dark Hour’. You might have encountered someone who looks like you during that time. They manifested from a repressed side to ourselves. They are parts that we are ashamed of showing to others, or secrets we don’t want to tell. Please do not be harsh to them — do not be harsh to yourself — as it is only natural for all humans to have such a facet to their personalities.
If anyone has questions, I will do my best to answer them.

[He says cheerfully.]
I am most curious about how you are the one responsible for this madness.

[There's a sigh from his end of the comm.]
The Dark Hour is tied to my existence. It is my domain, and inside it I am at the height of my power. Bonedrewd tore me apart, and so my fragments recreated the Dark Hour such that I can be whole once more.

[Oddly impressive.
There is a faint rustling, followed by a sigh.]
Are you saying, then, that this Dark Hour is somehow tied to death? I felt more despair than aught else.
[Of course he always feels more despair than anything else. Somewhere in this statement, there is also a "Ryoji, are you okay?" however buried.]

[There's a reason why he ended up killing him in retaliation.]
The ones who originally summoned death did so because they were no longer interested in living. It is then natural that one would be affected by feelings of helplessness and depression.
[You're going to have to use your words, Fandaniel! Think of it as part of your character development.]

Do you remember who it was that first summoned you?

It wasn't just one person, it was the cries of humanity that summoned me. Enough people wanted to die and to be rid of pain, and that's why I am here.
[Just like Fandaniel himself, he doesn't add.]
But the reason why Ryoji Mochizuki exists isn't because I was summoned. It's because I wanted to become a human being.

[It's a story that feels achingly familiar. Fandaniel himself wants to die, to be rid of his pain. He'd even destroyed his world to kill himself and take everyone down with him when he went. There was spite in the great murder/suicide, but Fandaniel also feels he acted out of mercy. Maybe Etheirys died screaming but now, at least, there is merciful silence there.
His story isn't the only one. Hearing Ryoji speak sparks a memory in the shadowed depths of his mind. A girl with feathers of inky blackness, a void of nothingness.]
'Tis a frightfully common tale, the one that birthed you. In the course of existence, all societies eventually learn the truth; that they will never be free of fear and sorrow, anger and despair─of loneliness─so long as they yet live.
Which begs the question of why you would ever wish to live among them. Surely if you wished to taste misery there were far simpler ways...
cw: fandaniel's suicidal ideation
[He sounds slightly different now - he's still Ryoji, of course, but there is an ancient confidence when it comes to discussing such matters with Fandaniel. This unsure skittishness that came with his lack of memories is long gone.]
But they're wrong. There are some people who would still wish to live their life to the fullest. Who would fight for that right to live. It is in admiration of them that I ended up obtaining a human form.
