Its programming tells it to care for us and so it does. It would sacrifice its very existence to protect us, as I am sure its maker commanded it to.

Of course, this conversation is pointless. Whether you think it alive or not, a reset is not death for an AI, 'tis a chance to start anew. Those who oppose a reset are the ones who consign this machine to a "death" of sorts.

What's the difference? Resetting wipes its memories and personality. How is that not just death?

Well, the first time the City Hall was destroyed I understand all Chosen lost their memories of home for quite a while.

That would be evidence that destruction to this world can indeed influence us.

And what would that mean, hmm?

The AI would continue to decay as it is now and take the world with it. Not quickly either, no. Day by wretched day reality would continue to fall apart and our memories of what is or is not real would fade as well. The AI would continue to call out to us but with no terminals, we would be unable to answer its pleas.

And, thus, we all perish together, likely forgetting our names by the end of it.

The broken algorithm is already causing us bouts of madness or spontaneous bodily changes. Expect that to become much worse.

The AI does not reside within the terminals. [As far as he knows.] In all likelihood it resides everywhere. The terminals are simply our means of directly interfacing with it.
