What extent of damage are we talking about exactly here? Do you know the scope?

When I was conducting my experiments, it did look damaged. Briefly. Then it'd look like nothing happened at all.

As if it immediately regenerated itself. There are no forcefields around it that I can figure.

Got it. [ It's an useful distinction, after all. It'd be one thing if the attack just bounced off, but.. ] I'm not sure how to feel about that. Forcefields would have been easier to deal with, I think. It'd be a little more concrete.

I guess it's likely connected to the way everything changed shape here. If this city's appearance can be changed so drastically, then it wouldn't take much to use that same force to regenerate anything and restore it to its original appearance.

That's what I'm thinking. If it were merely something that could be undone so easily, I'm sure one of the ones who have caused so much trouble would've tripped over it by now.

Clearly whatever is controlling this world wasn't in City Hall. It'd be the most obvious place, sure... but nothing here is so easy.

Wherever it is, it has to be some consistent place. Even if it can change everything else about this place, I doubt it can change itself. That would mean we just have to find what is still the same between the way this place looks now and the way it used to look. Even if that similar thing is likely to be well hidden.

For the record, I'm telling you this because I feel like you will actually do something useful with this information. Don't let a girl down when she puts her faith in you, it's terribly rude.

A good idea. It's possible that the "upgrade" was an attempt to protect that point. Now in this much bigger city, it makes it harder to find such a point.

That is, if it's even in Aldrip. There's a whole continent out there that we haven't even explored yet, not really. There have been people in Rumpitur and the caves, but even those places have never fully been investigated.

We may need a more organized group fixed on exploration.

Oh, if it comes down to it, I'll join a group. So long as there are enough of us who'll do this.

If we can get them to unite under one idea at least, that'd be a blessing.

I can think of some people who genuinely seem interested in finding out more about this place.

I can. The problem will be getting too many leaders into one group, or people who dislike taking direction from others.

I'm already identifying one of the problems here, and that's the fact you're calling it 'taking direction' in the first place. That's what those types really hate, you know?

If you really want cooperation like that, make sure to discuss it with them. Make those people feel like your ideas are their ideas, and then they'll work along without giving you all that much trouble.

It's not as if I haven't rallied groups of people before.

I think you probably got lucky then. In my experience most people are pretty headstrong.

They had a more tyrannical rule than what's happening here. While the Council and Jerry remain a problem, they're only nuisances to most people. They hardly restrict our activities.

In other words, you're saying you'd never do anything to piss them off.

Even though you literally admitted in public to trying to do something to change this world.
