I'm aware of a lot of things going on, memories and people asking about them on the network. I'll keep my own issues to myself. What I want is to think about anything but all this.

I want to hear something about your home world, something you remember, even if you think it's fake or real. I need something else and maybe hearing about things from people's homes, good or bad, will allow for that. Favourite recipe, something about your mother you parents, guardians, something about your favourite route to a nice place. A flower you like. A time you were victorious, a time you felt you weren't going to make it to your goal and did, or didn't and how you're still working on it. Anything that isn't this.

I've heard it once from friends. It does sound exciting. What sort of magic did they specialize in?

[ Normally it might be, but having no memories of what being a magical girl really entails, Mitama is genuinely enamored with the idea, at least for the time being. ]

As far as I can tell, each girl has her own specific type of magic in addition to more general spells!
For example, there was one girl who could change her appearance at will... which, now that I think about it, creates some potential for identity theft...

[ Overthinking cute magical abilities leads one down a dark path, apparently. ]

Oh, but I'm sure they wouldn't use their abilities in nefarious ways like that!

[Shoto is definitely agreeing that's quite the set up for someone to not be able to know who they are. Something his friends have had to deal with.]

At face value yes, I think it would. I know someone who doesn't have the same morals in that category. If you think they wouldn't, then that's fine. What kind of spells do they have?

[Because identity theft he can deal with. Spells are just fun to learn about. Much like Words.]

If you have any magical girls around, I'm sure they'll stop them from doing anything nasty!

They can all transform into those adorable outfits, as well as summon weapons!

You mean they'd help me if I was in trouble, without any prompting?

[It is, and it's nice to believe them.]

Oh. Should I look away when they transform? I should look away. I wouldn't want them to feel uncomfortable.

Oh, absolutely! Protecting people is a magical girl's most important mission!

[ Just oozing confidence here. ]

Well, aren't you a gentleman? Yes, I believe that would be for the best!

I see... What would you call a man that wants to protect people and can use abilities?

[That question phrased as a bad dad joke is asked with every ounce of honesty he has.

It's contagious and Shoto likes it.]

Alright, if I see someone transforming, I'll turn away as fast as I can. Maybe we should talk to them about transforming in public, though. Not everyone may have the same idea.

Hmm... Well, I suppose it would only be fair to call them superheroes!

[ Is she literally just basing that off comic tropes...? Perhaps, but if the shoe fits, then why not! ]

Ah, I think they're already rather secretive about their identities, so they'd avoid doing so in public... I'm sure this is to protect those close to them. And besides, people might not believe that such heroines even exist in the first place!

Superheroes. No, I believe you. I want to be a Hero when I graduate. It's smart to conceal their day to day identities if they think people will really find them and hurt someone close to them. I've had that happen, my father had that happen. A lot of people have now that I think about it.

[Which is... concerning. Maybe something else to look at when he gets home.]

I can't transform and I'm not a girl, so I can't be a magical girl. If you see them, please tell them I'm willing to help them however I can. ...Or are you concealing a secret identity? Should we be saying all this in a non-private conversation?

Ah, that's an admirable goal! I've never really thought about it this way until the recent events occurred, but I suppose Aldrip could use some heroes right now...

[ She's not even sure if heroes could help them resolve the situation... but it would be nice to have someone figure out what is real and what isn't anymore. As much as she doesn't want to think about it this way, it feels like she's losing the ability to make that distinction, and this conversation might be a proof of this. ]

Oh, but even if that was the case, I couldn't simply admit that in public, now could I~?

[He knows three Heroes who could, two technically but only one who is present. It sure isn't him as far as he's concerned. Even if she can't see him, his time taken is looking down at the text, taking a moment or two to think about both of those things.]

Then I'll continue to do what I can. Even if I can't be a magical girl.

That's why I'm worried. If I caught on then other people might catch on, too. If you're concerned for the safety of the people you love then maybe it's better we move to a private conversation. Though, if we do that, it'd be readily admitting you are. I'm not sure which is the better decision.

That's the spirit! You can have your own way of being a hero and helping people, I'm sure!

As for myself... well, to be perfectly honest, I just don't know! I do not have any memories of being a heroine myself.

[ There's a slight pause before she continues, finally choosing to address the elephant in the room. ]

... And, at the end of the day, I still couldn't tell you if any of that is real of just a figment of my imagination, so... it might not even matter.

[This he does have. He has more than one way, but Shoto is more focused on the end of that statement. It seems just as sad to him as it reads.]

My best friend didn't have any way to be a hero, either, but sometimes heroism isn't conventional, or like the comics. A lot of the things we're taught is just to help those around us. You could be a hero if you wanted, too.

[ He does have a good point... and while Mitama still isn't sure how she feels about all those memories, that probably won't change who she is, anyway. ]

Mhm, that's certainly true! Even if I don't end up saving the world, as long as I'm a kind of person my little sister can look up to, that's good enough for me~

Though of course, if I get a chance to help out others, I'd be happy to do that, too!

There's nothing wrong with that as an aspiration either. Sometimes you don't have to save the whole world, just one person's world.

If you want, you're welcome to come on patrol with me. I can teach you things I know some of the people still talking to us appreciate that has nothing to do with magic.

Oh, I think so too! We can't all be superheroes, as nice as that sounds. But small things matter, too, and can even have effects on great scale when put together!

Ah, I wonder if that's something I could help with... If something were to happen, I couldn't be of much help, and my family would surely worry...

[ Putting aside the fact that the weird memories situation would suggest they're not really her family... but it's not something she wants to think about at the moment. ]

... There again, this is Aldrip we're talking about. Surely, nothing bad could happen here... right?
