Well. As someone from "Medieval times", I'm going to offer some advice.
First: any food and drink that can spoil, and won't fit in one of the root cellars, put it outside so the cold can care for it. I would suggest hanging it from a second-story window in a basket so that animals can't get to it so easily.
Second: I don't know how many good candles are in the village, but we should all learn to make rush lights. They're not enough to read by, but they'll keep you from hitting your shins in the evening. We'll have to go back with rising and setting with the sun until we can resolve this.
Third: Layers. Wear sweaters, cloaks, capes. We'll have to gather firewood to make up for any shortfall. If you live alone... find someone to stay with. I know it can seem salacious to people used to at-will winter heating, but if you're comfortable with sharing a bed with someone, it does save a lot on firewood and blankets.
Finally... if you're excessively cold for a long time, and you start feeling confused, forgetful, or much too clumsy, find someone right away to help you get warm. Those are signs of hypothermia. And if you find someone in such a state, don't let them fall asleep.

Yes... I do too. [So many different had joined her brother in his cause. Healers, common thieves, ordinary knights, princes and princesses in exile. From her glimpses of her children's future, she is sure that Sigurd died, but she knows that Finn did not, at least not right away. She wonders who else made it through.] Perhaps the three of us can have a campfire--you, me, and Claude, and pretend like we're on campaign again.

That would be nice, but maybe we can leave out the campaign and take the day off early so you won't be too tired for once.
[ She suspects Ethlyn is still working herself to the bone to keep the clinic running smoothly during the blackout. ]

[ Maybe they can hold a recruitment campfire and invite would-be members...but some other time. The campfire they're planning will be for relaxing with friends only. ]
I'll reach out to Claude. Let's invite Zaffy, too.
[ Can't forget our wyvern friend. ]

[Oh... Zaffy. Yes. Ethlyn still can't help but feel a visceral terror in her gut whenever she catches sight of Claude's wyvern. It's better these days, much briefer, but it's always still an unpleasant shock to start with.]
I'm sure he'd like that. We'll have to bring something special for her to eat--something big, too.

[ Dried meats and other treats. ]
I'll see you in a little bit?
