(video) an orb speaks

(honestly, there isn't anything too big here. just a girl, young with hazel eyes - tapping, poking, and yelling into the poor charm.

... accidentally activating video.)

... I don't understand this. They said this is useful, but it's just pretty. I can make pretty things too. HELLO????

(grumble, grumble... confusion?)

(an ooc note! fushi has many forms, as explained and shown in this post here. feel free to opt-out if you'd like!)

I can make them, but- I believe there is a restriction placed over this area. The phone I came with has been out of service and malfunctioning since I arrived.

We might have to get permission to use any outside equipment.

Ah. [ Oh, that changes things. ]

A phone is a machine used to communicate. It's somewhat like these charms, but it uses electricity for power. I brought one with me, but it hasn't connected to anything properly. It's-

[ Service. How to explain service? ]

It's usually connected to a common line that other phones can use to share messages? Like this. And when you are out of range of that line, you can't communicate. I think we can say this world is out of service for me.

Electricity is energy.

[It's been some time since Seimei really talked to someone unfamiliar with technology. He picks his words carefully, trying to make sense.]

Like the movement of lightning. The energy of that current provides power to phones and other devices. I suppose a charm might use other forms of energy, but even with power, it doesn't mean it will work. We might be too far away to get any messages.

Well, I-

[That is a lot of questions, and unfortunately his phone hasn't been working properly at all. Even though Seimei's phone doesn't actually connect to regular towers, he would normally be able to pick up some signal.]

I can't use it right now, but I can show you.

[He can at least hold up the smartphone, displaying it to the coin projection and turning on the screen. It turns on just fine, but when Seimei tries to make a call, it makes the disappointed cry of a lacking connection.]

See? I can't get in touch with anyone else.

It's a small thing, but useful when it works. Where I'm from, most people have one to talk to each other over distance.

[That is not entirely true, since his particular phone is enchanted, but it's also a moot point since it's just as broken as a normal phone would be. So much for magic and technology, in this case.]

This world... I suppose it's all right. A little uncomfortable, but we can't really be picky, right?

[And the world he used to come from is also uncomfortable these days, so is there really that much difference?]

Are you adjusting to all of this? You've discovered their charms to meet everyone. Have you been making friends?

Well, these are usually much faster than a bird. And they can cover longer distances without rest--although right now we could probably use some message runners, hm?

[He's amused at how progress and technology once again fall victim to basic malfunctions. Isn't that always the way? But that's also part of being abducted and trapped in another world, isn't it?]

Honestly, they probably don't want us to try to contact our homes. Imagine the chaos that might cause.

[Seimei considers that very specific answer.]

Two? Well, that's a good number. It has a lot of promise. Are you seeking more, or do you prefer a smaller group?

That is a reasonable thing to ask for, although I don't think we'll get our wish for another form of communication. If we make any more, they are likely to be intercepted. Whoever is watching probably doesn't trust us either.

[He does smile at Fushi though.]

There's no rush for friends, either. I'm sure if you ask, people will be glad to help. Take your time.

Then I will wait for your contact.

[He doesn't hate it, but he doesn't hate much. Maybe that can play in their favor.]

Let me know if I can be of any help.
