Hello all! For those of you who haven't yet met me, I'm Ethlyn.
I've started working in one of the clinics here, and it's both familiar and not... and it's become clear to me that the places we all come from are far more different than I could have imagined.
So I'd like to ask you about how medicine is in your homelands. Where I'm from, we use magic to heal wounds cleanly and quickly, but we don't always know what causes illness and infirmity. How are things for you--do you use magic to heal, or do you have to rely on technique?
As well as that--who else is a healer themselves? (And: can you ride?)

[Time to level up, Ethlyn. Come to the Tales universe.]
You ride horses? We...don't do that back home.

[WELL FIRE EMBLEM IS ANIME ENOUGH TO MAKE THE CROSS]
How do you get from place to place, then? I'm assuming you have a way besides your own two feet.

[Something that she won't admit to them.
Join the superior healing item life, Ethlyn. It's great here. Sort of.]
Most of it is walking, but there are trains and some carriages, but we also have spaceships to get between the two worlds. Horses are...food.

[But Shionne's next words make her face fall... not that there are advanced machines to take people from place to place, which is only to be expected if engineering is gone so far. But...]
So they're nothing more than... livestock? [She shakes her head.] My horses have taken me in and out of danger more times than I can count, and they've all had their own personalities--I find their presence a comfort. I'm sure anyone from my home would say the same--it would take the direst extremity for me to even consider it.

[And when those are keeping an impending apocalypse that has to be headed off by sparking a rebellion? Meh, making it easier for her means she might actually have a shot at doing it. So, she keeps company with the rest of her party. And might like them.
Maybe.]
I suppose? They're used for some carts to carry food around, but they're not really a big thing on Dahna. We don't have them at all where I was born.

[There's an expression--a "one-horse town," a place that's so small and so poor that only one person there can afford to maintain a horse. If Shionne's hometown couldn't even claim that much--well, it's small wonder that she only sees horses as meat.]
Oh, I see. I grew up around knights and riders, so I'm as used to seeing horses around me as I am people. But if you have cart-horses, maybe our worlds aren't as different as I'm imagining.

[Shionne does like her group, but she's still a while away from admitting to anyone, let alone herself, that she cares for them and what they think of her.
And if Ethlyn only understood that Shionne was born and raised on a space station, a flourishing one at that....]
Aldrip so far reminds me of parts of Dahna. It's....quaint.
